reminds me of a friend I had back in high school he was sperging about how he hates in the Superman movies/comics etc. bad guys still shoot at Superman despite the fact that at this point they should know fully well that regular bullets are usless against him, yet they keep firing as if hoping that this time one of the bullets will somehow pierce his skin and kill him.

The sheer amount of backlash they would get if they did anything to whichever of the Edds was the tall dumb one, on the grounds of mental handicap representation, would scare off most of them because you simply can't get around the fact that Edd was legitimately spouting nonsense half the time.
Thankfully, the creators of Ed, Edd N Eddy actually own the rights, so that won’t happen.

I get the logic of this show being a thing, CW drams do well, superheroes are big right now and people who grew up with the show will be in their mid to late 20s or early 30s now, so prime for nostalgia bait. So on paper I get it. however in reality, the Powerpuff Girls had a very weird look you can't translate to live action, so that alone would always feel off and secondly and the main reason outside edge lords, most people don't want to see their childhood cartoons aged up and made more adult, and any attempts will be seen as "ruining my childhood". This is one of the reason why people dislike Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon" and the Batman and Harley Quinn movie, well that and the shit writing. It's a up hill battle and if you don't have a great writing team, it will fall hard.
WB should cut their losses with this one, if they want to do something with the ip, do a HBO Max movie. If they want to do something with the idea and see gold in it, well find someone in the DC comics who would fit the bill or better yet create new characters, yeah it wouldn't have the name recognition but also wouldn't need to convince people nearly as hard, way more freedom in what you can do with the characters and don't risk damaging a brand.
