With Soyboy Bebop canceled, I remembered this thing. Do we have any new updates on this travesty? Many of us have moved on, but I think this could take the cake for worst live-action adaption.
One hopes they realized what an utterly piss poor idea it was and scrapped it.

Pulling a Cowboy Bebop on the PPG reboot and canceling it directly before showing it on the CW would not mean much since they’re too busy trying to turn Nancy Drew into a Twilight character, while showing how Riverdale is so “diverse” that it doesn’t even have to have a good character plot.

Overall, it would not make much sense to scrap it immediately, but 2022 is almost here in the next three and a half weeks. So, yeah, anything is possible.

Well, look what the cat dragged in.

It's not an official confirmation but if media outlets are starting to even question its existence, well, at this point the CW probably is going to kill this abomination quietly while everybody is distracted by the fallout from Netflix Bebop.

I wouldn't be surprised. It's not a good look when one of the actresses leaves before the pliot even airs

Technically, the pilot DID air, but to executives and it was so bad that it's why the reshooting had to be ordered, which I think led to one of the girls GTFOing to no longer be associated with this car crash.

Seriously, they're fucking up Nancy Drew, too? One of the original cool competent intelligent girl characters of all time? A role model to an entire generation? Is there nothing these fucking fiends will not defile?

The "plot" of Riverdale is mostly just the creator fulfilling his porn scenarios with Archie from Archie Comics, since the dude is practically fucking in love with the ginger boy.

He literally wrote a play back in the day where Archie came out as gay and hooked up with an infamous serial killer.

Seriously.

No need to guess how he could have imagined Betty and Veronica....

Hey dipshits, how about stop with all these live-action reboots and start something from scratch. Thanks.

Partly due to a very (and ironic) risk-adverse attitude with most entertainment bigwigs not wanting to sink development cost into new content when they could just market and re-use something that already exists, as well as partly due to a bunch of extreme progressive dipshits deciding to shove what they want into the existing media they have to write because they don't care for the source material. This isn't fact checked because really, executives don't really CARE what gets put on TV so long as it doesn't get them in trouble.

With Powerpuff, the entire reason for using the Powerpuff name is because people know of the original cartoon. That's it. I've said it before and said it again, but if they actually stripped away the Powerpuff branding and simply turned it into its own thing with new names and designs, this crap might have actually had a leg to stand on as some kind of hybridized take of The Boys mixed with critique of how exploitation of children for popularity that the parents profit from really fucks the kids up.

As it stands, this shitshow only is going to tarnish a well remembered cartoon (well, not as well remembered thanks to that shit revival CN shat out) purely out of hoping people are going to watch anything with 'Powerpuff' branded on it.

It’s probably dead.

>The CW hasn't been profitable since 2006
>Looking to sell it off to another company
:story:

If it's truly going to be sold... then high chance that The CW would be dead the second the remaining licenses expires, unless they can find a way to make something good without the need of another franchise for diversity points.
