Got to the 2nd season but never got back to it. Being on cable really cripples it. While you're never going to get a full adaptation of all the edgy shit the book series does the show just never really felt like Preacher to me. Just stick with The Boys imo.

I liked the first season but once the "lol so weird & quirky" charm wears off you're not really left with anything of substance. I don't find the characters to be likable most of the time (I mean this in a 'they alternate between being annoying and dull' way, not a 'they're bad people' way), the plot often meanders, and the way the characters tend to walk in and out of danger without consequence repeatedly kills any tension.

I never saw the Preacher show, but it was one of the few comics that I read and mostly enjoyed. As for Deadwood; I fucking hate most Westerns and yet I loved Deadwood. Easily in my top five shows. All the grit and funny Chinamen really helps set it apart from most other Westerns.

How can Preacher possibly compare to this?

I fucking love Preacher. The show, never read the comic. It's a very smart show (the occasional lameass, requisite "Drumph!" snark aside) that looks very dumb. I think the first season might be the most genuinely and wonderfully strange things I've seen on TV ever. (Aside from, like, Twin Peaks.)

But yeah, obviously Deadwood is better. Deadwood is one of the best things to have been on TV in the past few decades, and David Milch might be the greatest living television writer.

Why the hell would you compare the two shows anyway?

Preacher: Comic was good, show was ok for the prequel first season, then slows to a crawling pace. it's ok, but not great.
Deadwood: Go watch the og movie or something.

The scene where a literal Nazi was wearing a MAGA hat really pissed me off and I don't even like Trump. In a show with a guy with an arse for a face, an unstoppable killer cowboy from Hell and the retarded inbred spawn of Jesus Christ that was the point where I said: Well now, that's just silly!
