At first glance, these guys seem a considerable step down in terms of legal talent.

Your impression seems to be on the money.

Ahmed appears to be a two-person firm doing business law but talking alot about hail damage cases, family law and personal injury on the website as well. Ahmed has his undergrad degree from SMU (good) but his law degree from South Texas College of Law which I don't know much about.

South Texas is not a good law school generally speaking, but it has an okay reputation for teaching litigation. It's a private law school that matriculates mostly unemployable lawyers who have no other choice but to go into practice as solo practitioners. The fact that Ahmed has managed to survive as a solo practitioner for over two decades at least shows that he has some degree of ability despite his shitty alma mater.

I don't know where you're seeing that he worked at a big firm on his page. Maybe I'm just blind. I am seeing that he worked at an actual firm with a real practice for a number of years where he maintains a position as Of Counsel. Nothing I would consider "big" like Jones Day, Kirkland & Ellis, or Porter Wright.

Reading his page at Hawash, Cicack & Gaston LLP, it seems he was pretty academically accomplished in law school. He was an executive editor on the law review and graduated as a member of the order of the barristers, so (at one point) he could at minimum research and present well.

But these days he lives in a small town between Austin and Waco. The most promanent area he talks about on his web page is personal bankruptcy law. He also does all the usual things a small-town lawyer would do (family law, immigration, small-time criminal defense. He went to Baylor Law School but he is a single-person practice now.

He seems to be new to the solo practioner thing. He became Of Counsel in July 2020, which may indicate he got lightly transitioned out at Hawash, Cicack, & Gaston due to the COVID-19 business downswing. Defamation isn't one of his practice areas, so he's likely just taking what he can get until he becomes more established.

Finally, I would not trust a solo practitioner who hosts his firm on a fucking wordpress.

I jumped to a conclusion based on the text on his "who am i" page:

"I worked on a massive lawsuit filed by a bunch of homeowners. Their water supply had been polluted when a nearby gas station leaked 27,000 gallons of gas over the course of a month. We took literally hundreds of depositions and spent six months in trial."

I assumed he graduated, moved to Maryland for a job and that job had to be with someone significant given the type of case. But thinking about it again, there could be alot of other explanations. I couldn't find anything who he was working for in Maryland. I put him into a pattern of other attorneys I've seen but without solid proof of it.

Finally, I would not trust a solo practitioner who hosts his firm on a fucking wordpress.

Just to note, Belton itself is a fairly small town, but it's just a few minutes away from Temple, which is a decent-sized city that's been growing quite rapidly. I'd expect he does business there as well, seeing as fast growing cities are usually good places for a bankruptcy lawyer.

Probably because FROG calls Thomas Roiloup a pedo in it. It reinforces the narrative that he wants to spin about FROG calling people pedos. It also has that "gas chamber" thing (minus context) in it and FROG saying that is probably intended to horrify the SJWs who see it or reinforce the "comicsgate as hate movement" @PocketJacks is pushing.

I would guess he is also still hoping to expand his fight or bait other unrelated people like the Roiloups into his fight.

So I guess I can talk on two separate things with regards to the summons being issued. Specifically, Dean's and Vikki's summons are defective. Dean's name is not Dean, something that they fixed in the amended complaint. Second, Vikki's is hugely defective in one way, which is guaranteed to mean it fails. I promised Vikki I wouldn't explain publicly how it's fucked up, because I want Preston and John to spend more money. To put it bluntly, they have to completely redraft their complaint and summons because of it. I know we don't like "teasing" like this, but it offers some great shit in a few weeks when the bills come in and Preston sees he literally just wasted hundreds of dollars here.

That was weird. Half of it was yelling about Fox News or the Trump Administration or the election somesuch thing having no relation of any kind to the lawsuit (or even some sort of generalized persecution of Poulter) and the other half was nothing but unsubstantiated bragging about how unbiased and wonderful at doing research he is. (He might be, he might not be, but no case was made.)

Why not just make a video reviewing all of Preston's claims and providing evidence in support of such claims? Clearly this individual believes Poulter, and since he claims to be a demi-god at Google-fu, well, dazzle us all with those mad research skills.

There were two new donations on Preston's gofundme. Both were for $20 bringing the total to $240. Ro (of warcampaign) or someone pretending to be Ro made one of them. The other was anonymous.
The donation that appears to be from Ro left the first comment on the gofundme: "You are a pillar of society and a true legend. HAIL BROTHER!"
Four donations so far and Ro (of all people) is the only one who wants to go public in supporting him. Preston apparently can't even get his own collection of idiot followers to give him money.

Preston and the people around him really don't understand how trademarks work. They have this delusional idea that they can control every single use and utterance of the word in any forum for any reason. The theory would be that a business with a name that is trademarked could prevent all public discussion of that business by name and any use of that name in public discussion.

I guess the theory is that they would sue the farms for trademark infringement for using the word "comicsgate" to talk about comicsgate. I don't think that will work at all. And the additional stuff of thinking that after they win the trademark and after they file the lawsuit that they can force the farms to settle the case in a way that allows Preston to decide who can be moderators on the farms is beyond delusional.

The pedo thing could fly if it's seen as a statement of fact about Preston specifically, and not Lamont. I think it is entirely fair comment about Lamont and his work is disturbing and quite reasonably leads to that inference.

I didn't catch this at the time, but in their request last week, they changed DA Talk's name again. In the original complaint, it was Dean Assaf. They updated it to Ali "Dean" Assaf in the amended complaint, and these new lawyers claim his name is Dean Assa.

They also changed Victoria C. Kundert to just Victoria Kundert.
