I've always felt Trump wouldn't be "the guy" who brought about the big change but he'd merely be the forerunner to it.

With the events of 2020, I've been worried that if America is Rome then Trump is our Julian and Obama was our Constantine (with Biden/Kamala as our Gratian and some younger Woke Leftist Millennial will be our Theodosius) but there's also the possibility of it going the other way, especially if HR 1 manages to narrowly fail in the Senate and we get a more concentrated populist backlash of some kind.

I completely agree. Asians know they’re being gaslighted. Hispanics know they’re being ignored. And whites - across the political spectrum and both sexes - have always known we’re being gaslighted, but had let ourselves be convinced that it was ok because black people just can’t help it and they’ll improve if we’re indulgent enough, and our intent matters and will be considered.
