TLDR; Landlord paid dearly for being a slumlord. Left trashing the place with style. I'm a god. Lol.
Long stor y short I was a student.
I needed a place to live and found a cheap as heck apartment for $600/mo.
I did not drive and the bus was a straight shot to the college.
This was a Colorado's town "ghetto" where the land lord (tens of millions in property across the town) prided itself on being christian and giving back to the community.
Grossly misrepresented by the previous statement, the apartment stairs would shake from being nearly rusted out.
I called city code inspectors and they ended up re-doing ALL the metal stairs, and wooden stairs, to the tune of $150k out of pocket, and about a half year of hasstle from the noise.
That was my first revenge because they wouldnt fix a water leak pouring on my poor neighbor below me everytime the shower drained.
The place had tenants always being evicted or moving or breaking lease.
A sex worker girl in her 30s was always on meth and pounding the walls I shared with her, probably smashing spiders.....on craigslist I put a fake ad for a free tv but needed help carrying it out.
She met a few new clients that week. She moves out a few months later.
Cue the biggest loser in the world, kid moves in and plays xbox and screams all the time at the game at 2am, yet sleeps during the day and complains of my dog drinking water too loud, or my 0545 alarm clock for the gym that lasts maybe a minute. Paper thin walls. My friend has a tow truck and left it in the intersection numerous times. Numerous times it was impounded.
He complains about me cooking, breathing, existing. Manager lives above me and I trained my dog to bark at anyone at the window or door. She always walks by and says hi to my dog, then calls me up saying I'm in the wrong for my dog barking...video proof showed she's calm unless provoked.
Move ahead a few months.
I continuously order food to my neighbor and now manager who still lives above me, for 6 months. Every. Dang. Weekend. Until I get bored. Each time the guy screams and the manager I can hear complaining about how she's being and fat-shamed by a constant supply of food delivery...
Fast forward about a year, I lived there three miserable years.
Cops called for a water leak, maintenance guy opens my door and my dog runs out. God bless my neighbor below she ran after my dog and got it back.
Two months more I make an anonymous call to police saying the manager is a sexual harassment danger and saw him behind building with kids. Our apartment has kids.
He gets fired and bought a brand new 2015 F150 two weeks prior. Let my dog out eh? Get screwed. Forever. My dog is worth more than his life. He also stole from peoples apartments.
New maintenance guy is right out of highschool and cool as hell. No issues and drives a new subby and races it at the track. I'm a car guy too so respect.
When I move in early February (freezing outside), I open all the outlets and switches that didn't turn on a light or refrigerator and cut them back as far as possible into the wall and cap the positive. I'm no arson and people live there too. I put fireblock foam under my wall with dry ice and fish on the other so you don't smell it. The thermostat wires are all cut and covered with cardboard. Cardboard was glued and spraypainted white to cover it up. Pipes froze and all had to be repaired. Both cable and phone line were cut close as possible to wall too. My dog first moved in as a puppy and had a corner she'd always pee in. I used about 5 cans of lysol and cleaned everything absolutely spotless. The shower head I put a dime in and jb welded with the showerhead back on. The toilet I flushed about five pounds of quickcrete down it with a snorkel. I found termites and some reason kept them on my table in a glass box...I released the colony so in twenty years that building will be condemned. I left the window in bedroom without screws and taped in place at the top.
I estimated total damage in excess of $10,000 for all the work that had to be done.
I got my security deposit of $800 back.
I got a call and email asking about the cut wires, fish, and all...I said I have no idea what monster moved in but I'm sincerely sorry to hear about all that and have a wonderful day.
I now have a house in Colorado sitting vacant until this quarantine is over.
Thanks for reading! Stay safe.
