This is the fun part for him - "Planning" a video by buying shit. Then sadly the boring and difficult part comes which is actually making the video.
You know you've reached Chernobyl-levels of soy when CONSOOM is literally a "vital" part of your job.

And I'm not talking about, you know, eating at a restaurant as a food critic, or trying out a guitar pedal or anything. I'm talking Dinsey influencer, Funko Pop levels of plastic garbage.

As I stated in my breakdown, him filming on the ICarly camera was indeed a surreal moment.

That's a really good point. What does owning an Icarly tote bag possibly add to what he's trying to do? In the ideal version of what he wants to do, Books and games could add to the thesis of a video, but his has no thesis to add to.

It's not that consumption is a part of his job as much as that Quinton inserts meaning and accomplishment into the act of consumption. As you said, a food critic consuming food for his or her job isn't equivalent to Quinton levels of consoomerism, but where does the line fall between someone who is a gourmand as a hobby and goes to a happening restaurant vs someone who wants to go to that restaurant and order food for the sake of ordering food from a happening restaurant? There's no deep meaning in the latter and hence no sense of accomplishment or personal development. It's an empty "accomplishment" that only leaves a need for repetition.

That's Quinton's life structure at this point. It's not that he consoomed all this retarded iCarly merchandise for a job—if that were the case, he would have used a significant portion by now and proved that was the sole intention (and if he ever does use those products in future videos, I'm betting it will consist of him holding up, e.g. an iCarly video game jewel case and giving a wikipedia summary of its contents—something he could have done for free).

And it's not that he finds personal enjoyment in collecting iCarly or Nickelodeon memorabilia and wants to own it as part of some calling or something—he said in his own video that he now has a negative opinion of the whole show. No, it was literally the fact that he could order something and receive it. Once he got it and let it sit for a couple of days, all sense of enjoyment, fulfillment, accomplishment, etc. went away, and all he could do is make another set of orders. It is pure consoomerism at its finest, which makes it so pathetic.

A wealthy person can suffer from the same affliction of consoomerism as Quinton, but the difference is that spending all that money won't seriously affect the wealthy person's life. Quinton spent thousands he'll never recoup through the profits of his video(s), all for the flitting feeling of joy he gets when he opens a package. That's so pathetic it almost makes me sad.

So after watching the introduction Quinton brings up a couple of points that should have just been parts of a video series instead of one big pointless summary of the show. These points being that iCarly is more memorable than you think and iCarly accurately predicted parts of influencer/creator culture. Someone with less of an ego would be able to, in the planning phase, see that his original idea was too large and directionless and pivot to smaller, more focused points. Also it would require someone with actual skill to be able to craft a narrative to stick out in the crowd of people now cashing in on iCarly retrospectives, not just "haha I bought a bunch of old random merch.... oh shit I have to actually make a video to use these props?"

Also wealthy people don’t spend time agonizing over trying to insert themselves into a cartoon cat or a Nickelodeon show that was targeted to children

Once the novelty and memes about the length of the video wear off, nothing is going to compel people to actually click on a part 2 in 6 months. I think the smartest thing to do would be to quickly put out a ~15 minute focused video with a clear thesis expanding on a specific topic he brought up. People in this thread have brought up some compelling ideas. Hell, he already has the show footage on his pc and has apparently constantly thought about iCarly for the majority of the past year.

2 or 3 of these focused videos interspersed with other content before part 2 would be refreshing to his audience after this slew of unnecessarily long videos and it would keep people interested in the idea of hearing this guy talk about a children's sitcom.

But of course he won't do anything because he's lazy and thinks this is his magnum opus.

A few shorter, focussed videos on iCarly points of interests would've been highly beneficial becausee
a. They would actually justify a series
b. They would be less time consuming than hours and hours of rambling about nothing, and he could work on other projects
c. People are much more likely to click on video essays than uh... "iBinged iCarly" (it's only doing well because of sheer algorithm luck lol)
d. They'd be genuinely interesting, and Quinton could be "satisfied" with them. I don't think this series is going to be creatively cathartic for him, and he clearly wants this to be his masterpiece

I have to worry what his selling point for the rest of the series will be if the selling point of the first one is "I binged iCarly".

The video on Dan will probably do good, due to the fact there hasn't really been any major videos taking him down (all the ones that I've seen have been weaksause,) however knowing Quinton he's probably going to make Dan look like the good guy unintentionally

Iirc the blameitonjorge vid covered pretty much all of the bases in a pretty satisfying way, but it's been ages since I watched it so don't take my word for it

I still stand by my prior statement that iCarly influencing anything says more about how laughable modern-day influencers are rather than it "pREdiCtING ThA FUtuRE".
You can tell that this show was made to cash in on YouTube early success and nothing more.
A bunch of out-of-touch execs throwing things at the wall in a shallow attempt to pander.
Quinton and his leftist friends need to understand that not everything is deep or coded in politics.
It's okay to look back fondly on stuff from your childhood but don't try to inspect it through some progressive lens because it lacks any substance to do so.
Shit like this is why the CW cranks out woke garbage every single year

I think your misinterpreting iCarly or Quinton, because I fail how you got “lol this got some things weirdly correct on some things“ to “politics“

I was under the impression that young adults on the Breadtube bandwagon have to only relate to early childhood/teenage drama to fit in with other kids half their age.

My point is that Quinton is looking at a show from the mid-2000s with a progressive lens despite it not fitting whatsoever.
ICarly (Like most tween shows of its time) was not made to be thought of deeply let alone teach you something insightful.
