I don't like the idea of canceling the student debts, cause a promise is a promise is a promise, but I can see reducing the interest to half of inflation or whatever, to allow it to become manageable for them over time.

With the amount of forgiven PPP loans, student debt cancellation should just happen BUT I also agree that a loan is a loan.

Like with PPP loans people should just have the option to include the loan as income on their tax return over the course of 2-3 years.

These are great. I really like the dude assuming people down voting his posts are some kind of capitalist plot to thwart the revolution. Plus the general idea these posters have of a decreasing standard of living. Also good is the idea that capping CEO and executive salaries would have any effect on prices. But probably best of all is the notion that unions could somehow raise enough funds to provide for a national general strike with no end until revolution occurs.

The interest on student loans should be determined by level of income, and some loan forgiveness in desirable sectors should be considered, and the loans should be dischargeable by bankruptcy. It's completely unfair to be saddled with a loan that you literally cannot pay off or get rid of short of leaving the country.

Clinton's plan was actually not bad. You were just required to pay a max of 10% of your income per year and they'd get discharged after 20 years if you couldn't actually manage to pay them off in full by that time.

It still disincentivizes going into a massive amount of debt for a useless degree since you'd have to pay that 10% but also doesn't trap you forever.

Personally I think pensions should be abolished completely minus for their original recipients being war veterans.

Pension plans have some tax benefits for both employer and employee, which is why I think they're still around. DC pension matching is also still an awesome benefit--you basically are still saving for your own retirement, but with pre-tax money. The only downside is that the rate of return tends to lag. I guess most people won't max out the other ways to do that (401k, etc.), but if you're making a decent chunk and your employer matches, it can be a good plan.

Some background since the fall of the Berlin Wall - you have had a large cadre of boomers with seemingly limitless capital, a baby boom in the developing world, every sea lane protected by Uncle Sam (and on his dime) and a global Pax Americana. Everyone can trade with everyone, anyone can go anywhere (even North Korea). Because anyone can go anywhere, developed countries started importing cheap labor from the developing world. Big business liked the cheap labour. Socialists liked the cheap votes. Wages in the West stagnated for 30 years (more in some places).

In order to facilitate trade across oceans, languages and red tape you need mega corps to cut through the bullshit and drive down prices (hence why inflation has been so low for so long). Thus, the globalization thing could only be done by those with massive amounts of capital. Normal people couldn't compete. So big businesses made bank.

Now the baby boomers are retiring. The developing world baby boom is over. Covid has ended free movement. The Americans don't give a shit anymore. The last 30 years have been very abnormal - and it's all ending.

Finally I come to this spastic anti-work subreddit - these reddit morons have a point. When the (((2008 Banking crisis))) started, the millennials who were first in the door were the first out of the door (lol get rekt). Therefore, millennials couldn't buy into the system.
