In theory you have 4 quadrants but in reality if you go hard economic left then you cannot also be libertarian freedom loving, that's why libertarian socialism can't exist. It's an oxymoron.The real political compass should be shaped like an upside down triangle where if you're an anarchist you're at the very bottom point because you can't enforce an economic system in anarchy. At the top left you have communism and top right fascism.

I couldn't watch the whole thing. I feel like Jreg didn't understand the appeal of the Centricide format or what made it successful and just copy-pasted it to mental illness hoping it would work. Like fundamentally, Centricide was about giving obscure and wacky political ideologies personified personality traits, mannerisms, and appearances to create an equally wacky caricature.

Mental illness already comes with personality traits and mannerisms. Personifications of mental illness already exist: they're called people with mental illnesses. Creating a wacky caricature of a mental illness will generally just piss people off, but playing it straight is boring.

Jreg's video is not even three days old, and they're already creating fan-made characters for it. DID (the character in this comic) is not from the original video. And the video wasn't even that good.

They seem to be drawing them Countryball-style. Of course, another fanmade character is Autism, depicted here with a book, and alternatively with headphones. (I guess they haven't had time yet to converge on a unified character design for all of them.)

I'd like to think personnified Autism is a contender for the most autistic thing ever documented on this forum, but it probably doesn't even come close.

Time will only tell if this experiment survives long-term or it fizzles out like /r/SoilTextureCompass (a PCM spinoff from a year ago).

The Subreddit has progressed the concept so rapidly in a few short days, it's almost as if people wanted to personnify mental illnesses for ages, and all Greg did was bring them together as a community, and give them an excuse to start making character designs.

But two people had already gone ahead and done just that, just a few months ago as a matter of fact. A post on the sub alludes to the (now-deleted) Twitter account for a project called Tales from the DSM.

It seems the intent of this project was to be a web series (a Youtube channel was created for it, but I don't think anything was ever uploaded there because it only has 37 subscribers - if there were videos, it would be more). The creators were mentally ill themselves, and sympathetic to people with mental illnesses and compliant with SJW values. I mention this because in spite of this, there was backlash from the SJW community who said personnifying mental illnesses crossed some sort of line.

For what it's worth, the @TalesFromTheDSM account retweeted mentally ill people all the time, including links to their crowdfunders. And they put out a statement explaining how they wanted to change the series even further to avoid harmful stereotypes.

I don't know if it was ever more than a couple of complainers, but the creators were so SJW-compliant, they did what any good allies would - they abandoned the project and deleted their account, although their personal accounts (@Jansovia and @TDSMculpeo) are still up at the time of writing.

One of them is the writer/voice actor, who I'm guessing wasn't on Twitter before or since this project (given the TDSM branding and the lack of followers). The other one is the artist, who is a little more interesting.

The artist has already done some extremely niche artwork for conlangs depicted as people. And if you have to ask what a conlang is, are you even autistic?

Could it be a complete coincidence that JayReg came up with basically the same idea as one of his fans? Most likely. The artist showed a clear interest in other personnification subcultures, and GayRej was already very into personnification with his centricide series. But part of me just loves the idea of him plagiarising the concept from an artistically inclined fangirl, I almost want it to be true.

Anyway, keep your eyes peeled for Jansovia (or Sovia - 'jan' is just a title in the Toki Pona language and not a name). This person might just have more to do with the creation of this community than we reaslise.

Although perhaps not, come to think of it, because the artwork in /r/TheMentalIllnesses is nowhere near as good. And it's already given us...

And people have already began requesting... flairs... to show what mental illness they have/are. *shudder* It's hard to know if they're doing so self-consciously or they only think they're being self-conscious.

Oh, and I'm late realising it, but apparently Jreg's account /u/gargle-greg is the creator (and currently only moderator) of this sub.

In summary, I wish people could stop this autistic virgin practice of personnifying mental illnesses and return to the far-superior chad autism of personnifying London Underground lines.

Spoiler: A train autist's explanation of the jokes and references in this video

The Metropolitan Line (purple) 'leaking' is a reference to actual drainage replacement works that began in 2016.

The Northern Line, wearing black, is two-faced ("literally two different people") because the Northern line in London is really two lines (the Charing Cross branch and the Bank branch) that run in parallel.

Central Line (red) is portrayed with the stereotypical Essex accent and is also a bit of a slag (another trait of Essex girls) because the counter-intuitively named Central Line goes all the way out to Essex at its furthest extent.

Northern Line pretending to be pregnant and unseating Bakerloo is a reference to the fact that Londoners must give up certain seats on the Tube to a pregnant woman if there is one present and there are no spare seats.

The Bakerloo (brown) and District (green) lines being depicted as geriatric old people is a reference to these lines having the oldest trains on the network (made in 1972 and 1978 respectively) at the time of this video being made, although the District Line has since been upgraded with the newer S-stock trains.

District Line not remembering Metropolitan is a reference to the fact that these are the only two Tube lines (unless you count the Waterloo & City line) that have no direct connections to each other.

Metropolitan working with the Circle Line (yellow) and Hammersmith & City (pink), and the other two getting in her personal space is a reference to the fact that, in central London, these are effectively all one line and share the same track.

Circle line talking in circles is self-explanatory. The Circle line in London is not strictly a complete circle, but comes very close to being one.

The Piccadilly Line (dark blue) is depicted as a tourist because that line in London is the one most often used by tourists. It connects the main airport to some of the busiest tourist hotspots like Piccadilly Circus (London's equivalent of Times Square).

And Leicester Square (pronounced incorrectly) to Covent Garden is a famously short journey that one does not need to take a train for at all. Of course, if you weren't aware of this, it might just seem to you that the train was very fast.

The Jubilee Line (grey) is depicted as the stereotypical sleazy businessman who works in the big office buildings at Canary Wharf. (Bonus fact: this is also the part of London depicted in the Scissor Sisters' video for Mary, including the establishing shot is of Canary Wharf station, although the train that is shown travelling there is actually on the Victoria line - but that could be explained by the protagonist changing trains at Green Park.)

"Didn't mind her gap" is a refernce to the gap travellers are told to avoid when stepping between the train and the platform.

The Victoria Line (light blue) talking very, very fast is a reference to how fast and frequent this line is, even compared to other urban railways. It also gets very hot down there. But seriously though, a train every 90 seconds has got to be some sort of world record.

She also says she "could go all night" because the Victoria line was one of the first Tube lines to operate as a 24-hour service. "could do, but I won't" - because in 2016 when this was filmed, there were some delays in getting this service started.

DLR (in the robot mask) is portrayed as a robot because the trains are self-driving and there is no driver at the front. (Other Tube lines like the Victoria are mostly driverless, but still require a worker at the front to supervise the train.)

The London Overground losing interest in the others is a reference to him no longer being classified as a Tube line, even though he used to be one (the East London line).

Metropolitan lives all the way in Zone 9 because she's the only Tube line that goes out as far as the 9th numbered fare zone.

"Is there a reason you've stopped" because the trains do that sometimes for no reason.
