CENSORSHIP
Game publications have locked discussion forums and deleted threads pointing out examples of journalistic impropriety. Game journalists have also reached out to third party sites such as reddit and 4chan and had gamergate discussion shut down there as well.
There has been a growing pool of evidence of numerous conflicts of interest with journalists and developers exchanging gifts, financially supporting each other, and even participating in romantic flings. This has resulted in favorable treatment given to certain developers at the expense of developers who do not bribe and sleep with journalists.
On 28 Aug, articles simultaneously came out from ten different publications dismissing gamers as immature misogynist men. Since then, evidence has emerged that game journalists have colluded behind the scenes in order to shape and spin stories.
Notyourshield is a twitter movement by minority groups who are unhappy with how social agenda driven journalists purport to speak on their behalf.
