A North American ''Poll tax'' or something like it is not out of the question. Especially with the Covid crisis and big corporate losing money you don't think they'd try something as low as this to siphon funds from all citizens to pay for the loss? I think in addition to inflation and everything else there will be a much higher tax coming on the backs of the middle class and poor.

The current political trend is incomprehensible if you see it as socialism vs capitalism. Our ruling class combined elements of both to produce something new, thinking in those terms is useless will only lead to confusion. Thats why libertarians say the current order is socialist and the leftists say the opposite.

They use leftist social theories to alienate the native population of the western world and make them unable to unite under the banner of a previous order which they usually call fascism whether it is or not They flood it with 3rd worlders who dont have any incentive to preserve western cultures and will de-facto be loyal to them while providing labor at lower cost. Meanwhile they use right wing economics to buy the loyalty of the elite and middle class making their lives too comfy to do anything against them. Add the education system which always was meant to be propaganda and you get the baizuo who thinks he is against the system while pushing for everything it wants minus a few economic policies, just like that, they just neutered the academic class. They now can plunder the wealth without any meaningful resistance

On a more serious note: I guess this means that the government should be paying to make more housing for low-income people (which I personally think is a good idea as the housing market is a bit dysfunctional for just low rent housing since there is so little money to earn), but most homeless people in the developed world could get housing.

You need to follow this to its logical conclusion. We provide free housing to the natives; they end up ripping the copper out of the wall to sell for drug money, then complain that they don't have any running water. This is not dissimilar to the African nations that keep stealing the infrastructure the Chinese build for them in exchange for mineral rights; the chinks (and the Europeans before them) put up infrastructure and the nogs tear it apart for scrap metal. Hell, you get protests in US and these people use the opportunity to loot their own neighbourhoods.

The low rent market is dysfunctional and unprofitable because the people who live in it are dysfunctional and destructive. Government housing is hardly a new concept; what "project" did you think people were referring to when they called the ghetto "The Projects"?

There is no amount of economic or social assistance that will bring these people out of their poverty mindset. They will destroy everything they touch--there's a VICE video where they follow some shitty mumble rapper from obscurity to national success that I think is instructive...he buys a nice house in a nice suburb with his newfound money and within weeks, the property is destroyed because he keeps riding an ATV in circles around his house. His neighbours call the cops on him constantly. There is a constant string of drug dealers and hookers coming in and out of the house. There was a shooting in the house:

Here is the fundamental issue with these people, they do not see them as their neighborhoods. Yes theyve lived there their whole lives, have close ties to the people and locations but in their minds its not theirs. Its just something to to use and abuse and someone else better fix it or replace it when its broken due to their shitty behavior. And since someone does come along and make an effort for reasons both selfish and selfless its a hard mindset to argue with.
