To any normal person, an outsider looking in, /r/legaladvice is one of the most perfect illustrations of just how stupid and unmotivated the average redditor is. You might say the same about /r/relationships too. Basically, the people who would come here and the ones who would even attempt to "help" them besides saying hire a laywer are people who are deeply deluded or who are looking to troll the gullible.
No sane person would ever air this kind of private information online, but yet so many people either do it or lie about it online for points. Every participant is gullible or sad, whether they're fooling or being fooled.
He didn't say it but if they were specifically harassing him for being an ex-member, like some cults do, that would be illegal. I don't believe JWs are really known for doing that any more but they could have a local batch of really obnoxious ones.
I read somewhere that the mods for r/legaladvice were a couple of cops and not attorneys. A cop doesnt know shit about criminal adjudication or things beyond arrest phase. They’d give someone much different advice than a lawyer would so people are idiots if they listen to internet legal “advice”. Or how to DIY shit like you see they do on 4chan.
I remember some really nasty shit happening on there, from censoring actual sound legsl advice from real attorneys, to the mods giving terrible advice to someone that led to a kid getting abused
You'd think this would be enough to cause a reddit chimpout against them, or at least the BLM "kill literally every cop uwu" shit would be enough to turn people on them, but this sub is still around?

Pro tip: I was a frequent target on their visitation list (I didn't mind). One day on a visit their kids snuck around and peeked in my window and caught teenage me masturbating. They never came back.
Cops could give reasonable "legal advice" of what might or might not get you arrested somewhere, or what might happen at a criminal trial, especially if they've testified at many of them, if they knew their limitations.
These morons don't. And their utterly shitty power-mad modding really convinces me that even if they are cops and not larping Paul Blarts, they're really shitty cops, too, the kind who get their departments sued, either utter Barney Fifes or outright lunatics.
