Maaan, this game is weird.

On one hand, you have a game that couldn't look any weebier if it tried: A cast almost fully staffed by anime clichees with every degree of applied clothing present as well as a story that mostly plays out like a visual novel and, for the most part, doesn't make a lick of sense.

On the other hand, it's actually... fun? Like, seriously so. It's a Metroidvania crossed with bullet hell, so that's already two of my fetishes covered. You get a decent amount of both close and long range combat as well as movement options, and most of them feel like you actually discover them as opposed to getting railroaded into finding them whenever it's convenient. The highlight is definitely the boss battles, so it's good that this game has loads of them - and the developers seem to have recognized this, given the main menu has a dedicacted Boss Rush option, and there's multiple on offer! Not to mention, once you beat the game, you get a replay option that takes out all the story stuff so you don't have to worry about spamming X whenever story stuff comes up. And there's some pretty good stuff in the soundtrack, as well.

Basically, if you can get past the presentation or take no issue with it, you got a pretty solid game waiting to be played.

I know I already said that the plot makes no sense, but
I have no fucking clue why Irisu picks a fight with you at the end outside of "magical corruption". It's not even like this isn't an excuse they use about half a dozen times during the story, but given how they tried to play it up as her being the reason for why everything happened, and at the end that's barely adressed within half a sentence or so.

I mean, her bossfight's among the best in the game so it's not like I mind that much, but it's strange how they didn't even pretend to try to justify it.

Oh well, time to wait for people to make sick speedruns out of this.
