In Ontario, home birth is quite common. The stats are great, better than "uncomplicated" hospital births. Here is why. Ontario has the finest midwifery education program in the world. 6-8 years of education and fellowship depending on the route you take. Transfer of care to OB is done at the first sign of any issue in the pregnancy or labor. Midwives in Ontario can even write prescriptions and administer IV antibiotics and hormones. Midwives are free of charge to all those with OHIP (like OBGYN)- if you can get in to one. The waitlists can be long and they are more in demand than OB/GYNs.
When midwives attend a home birth there is always at least 2. One for the baby and one for mom. There are usually fellows and students involved as well. Midwives attend the home everyday for the first 3 days after birth and then every other day and then every week for six weeks. No catching the bug of the week at the doctors office.

Yup, I'd agree with that. Trans people didn't grow up experiencing the same adversities of birthed XX people, but instead experienced different adversities. While they're women now, after suffering from gender dysphoria they're whole lives, they just can't relate to the same plights of women, in my opinion. I'm definitely not some academic on this shit, but this is just my thinking and why I can see the logic in TERFs though.
Trans women definitely experience a lot of issues growing up unless they are very, very good at hiding aspects of themselves. A little boy behaving in a way classmates see as "too feminine" is going to be a target for bullies. A little girl wouldn't be bullied for acting girly, but in some places will still be told to keep out of certain things because she's a girl, which a trans woman wouldn't have experienced growing up. I usually see this called male socialization and female socialization, and there's some truth to it, but it's not a be-all end-all thing since a trans woman wouldn't have experienced a typical male upbringing because of the feelings of dysphoria.
That's what I don't get about TERFs, if you want to demonize a minority, why are you going after normal folks who haven't done anything? At least the white supremacists bleat about black criminals most of the time instead of shrieking about some random black guy that's done nothing wrong. Women can't even be bigots right SMH.

The best part of the "hospital birth is patriarchy" bullshit is that the majority of obstetricians are women. So is the nursing staff. It doesn't even take a medfag to notice that.

Sure, if you don't have insurance, because rightly or wrongly the whole system is predicated on having insurance, and 80%+ of Americans do.
I (thankfully) have two insurance plans right now: on one plan a hospital birth is $30, on the other it's $500, which isn't that much money for life-saving medical care for two people.
Should we start encouraging people to have home intubations or home hernia surgeries because the cost is so high? The cost isn't as high as you and your baby dying.

I think it’s the the R part of the acronym. Their primary hatred is men in general, and they don’t see MtFs as a separate category of person, just as another a way that men are shitty to women.
