I disagree. Unbalanced? Yes. Chris is not insane. He can function like most normal people. He can pay bills, drive, cook (badly), shop, and experience the same struggles of day to day life that we do. He's just more likely to broadcast his ignorant antics. They're more extreme than when most people are acting like idiots for sure, but nothing I'd constitute as "insane". A few more meds and frequent counseling he'd be no different than your average internet weirdo.

You do realize that there are plenty of people with psychological disorders (schizophrenia, sociopathy, etc.) out there that have jobs, homes, mortgages, even families, right? Hell, there are even serial killers out in society who live fuller, richer, productive, and even more functional lives than Chris. I'm not saying Chris is a serial killer, but he definitely isn't sane. Before deinstitutionalization started gaining traction in the 70's, someone like Chris would have been placed in a big hospital somewhere away from society. His delusional belief that fictional characters, especially fucking cartoon characters, exist in some universe paralle to our own and that they can be psychically communicated with is not healthy. You can't even blame his Autism on that because there are plenty of Autistic people who don't believe such fantastical and childish things. It sounds more like a schizo disorder. Granted, we can't know for certain unless a psychologist conducted a full mental health examination on him, but it's pretty clear that Chris is a couple McNuggets shy of an Extra Value Meal.

I don't think he's so insane he couldn't survive in society, but he's heavily mentally ill. Take a look at this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy_prone_personality. It describes Chris perfectly. It wouldn't stop Chris from living life, not yet. But as Chris's real life becomes worse and worse, he retreats into his fantasies more and more. When Barb dies, he might retreat to his fantasy world permanently. Who knows how far Chris could take that? Maybe he'd believe Sonichu will help pay his bills. Maybe he thinks he'll be able to enter CWCville to live there permanently if he ingests a potion. If the Idea Guy convinced Chris to drink a "magic potion" of toxic substance, would Chris have done it? I don't know, but its a scary thought.

Could be possible Chris either bought a repro on ebay for half that price back in the day without ever figuring out it was a repro cuz the sellers tend to hide the "this is a repro" disclaimer in a hard to find place to trick people, or Chris bought a cheap repro a week ago (knowingly, or unknowingly, but figured it out and doesn't want it anymore) and is trying to pass it off as legit to make a quick buck off his fans, which I doubt, but is possible.
