I don't understand his obsession with the shirt considering he let it sit at the bottom of a bag filled with moldy drywall for 3 years.

Chris doesn't care about the shirt, he pretends to care about the shirt because he thinks other people care about the shirt in a positive way. The reason he fished it out of the stacks of garbage he keeps (because he's a bit of a pack rat) is because other people kept talking about it and pestering him about it.

There are many things in Chris's life that would have wound up tossed aside and forgotten had it not been for the constant attention he gets from tenaciously clinging to them.

He can't differentiate between disingenuous/mocking attention and genuine praise, which leads him to acting like a dancing monkey for everyone's amusement time and time again.

Not just with Chris either, people do it with retards all the time. Egging them on and encouraging goofy/bad behavior as a source of idle amusement. Those with no sense of dignity often become the unwitting punch lines to people's jokes.

I kinda agree with this- that Chris mostly cares about the shirt because he's always desperately wanted fame (or thinks he deserves/is destined for fame or something), and he knows other people see 'The Classic' as a big part of "Chris Chan: Internet Legend", so he wants to miIk that shit for free entry to MLP cons and stuff. But even before he got a whiff of internet fame he always drew himself in the comics wearing that shirt, integrated it into shit like that weird heart wand thing- seems like he always saw that shirt as some super-important part of his identity, even before other people latched onto that idea too.

Well that does pose an interesting philosophical question. Would you be willing to sacrifice your dignity for a life without want? On the one hand you might not ever have to work, you'll get whatever stuff you want... but in exchange you'd have suffer endless ridicule, mocking condescension and take on the form of a horrible, grotesque, fat headed, bulbous tranny with severe personal hygiene issues.

Personally I'd say... not worth it, which is why I don't really care if Chris profits from his "exceptional" situation at all.

Chris is not mentally capable of perceiving much of what you're describing.

For example, if you showed Chris a big list of women and asked him to rate them by attractiveness, he'd probably sort them first by how prominently displayed their tits are, then he'd demote any with clearly ugly faces (like if they have a wonky nose or a big boil or some shit) and then finally he'd remark on which ones had the cuter faces.

Now, if instead you had a bunch of clothed women without particularly large/exposed breasts, and no face displayed, and then asked him to rate them based on their bodies, he'd have a serious problem doing that.

I mean, not that there's necessary a "right" answer, but still, I think a lot of guys could have an engaging conversation about body type. But Chris is flummoxed by it. It's because body shape is substantially more subtle than a binary classifier like "big tits". Chris likes tits over ass, for example, because ass is complicated to evaluate. Big? Small? Shapely? (Does it even matter at all?)

Way too subjective for Chris to comprehend.

That's how everything in his life is. Chris can't perceive himself as ugly, because there's no giant boil or anything for him to obsess over. It's all... subtle.

Really, that doesn't matter. The way you look is 100 times more than the way you smell. Unless you smell like you've been rooting through rotting bodies for 5 years, as long as you look average to hot, people don't care.
Chris has the opposite problem of smelly, hot people, he appears to stink like a homeless man's mouth.
That layer of grease he's always sporting adds to the problems.

Well one would assume you'd be working as a wage slave if not the other option, but in doing so you'd have to give up like 1/3rd of your adult life for the daily grind.

You could say open your own business or get a job doing something you really love, but obviously that wouldn't really be an option for someone like Chris, even if he was somewhat squared away.

Chris fixing the C64 actually makes sense. It belonged to his father. As someone who recently lost his dad, I can tell you I'd fix something broken of his before I bought a new one (or accepted one as a gift) anyday. The sentimentality involved far out weighs the slight inconvenience.

You do realize that once Chris finally fixes the commodore 64 and messes with it for awhile, he will eventually get bored and sell it on eBay, right??? The same happened with Bob's record collection and his violin, Chris sold those as well.
