Careercow Randy Pitchford / DuvalMagic - Gearbox's magical fuck-up of a CEO, lost a USB drive full of porn.

Come to think of it, Duke's best chance at being in a video game nowadays is just as a guest character, like how he was in something Bulletstorm a few years ago.

Put Duke in Smash, it's the only way he can be used in this day and age. He'll go great next to Bayonetta.
Nintendo is wise not to associate with someone greasy as Randy Pitchford.

Or maybe give it to the team that made Ion Fury, and just let them go nuts in the Build engine with Duke.

It'd be niche enough that nobody really gives a shit, but also have the backing of nostalgic boomers such as myself. I'd buy the fuck out of it.

But fat chance, I know. I doubt Randy wants to license the IP. And while a modern Build engine game isn't expensive, the small market for it means that buying an expensive license would cut into VoidPoint's & 3D Realms' earnings. Probably wouldn't be worth it then.

I would love to see that happen, though.

I was thinking of the same thing: do a retro throwback title or maybe make it low poly and declare this as the official 4th game and just ignore Forever.

Or make it even more obscure by doing a new retro 2D Platform Shooter. Go totally back to the roots. A passionate team of (experienced gamedev) Fans could probably make a decent platformer. It'd be fun to hear John St. John speak Duke with a good script again.

I hate that Gearbox owns the rights to Duke. Fucking Randy.

Technically, now the Embracer Group owns the rights to Duke since they bought Gearbox in April.
Let's hope someone within that holding group has a heart for that franchise and wants to do something with it.

As uninspired and lame as DNF was, "The Doctor Who Cloned Me" was a step in the right direction, and showed that with decent writing and a competent, enthusiastic team developing the game, Duke could still be a good character, and, dare I say it, a good game.

Just fully detach whatever comes next from Duke Nukem Forever. Forget that game ever existed. I still say let VoidPoint have it. Imagine what they could do with their experience in the Build engine, and with a bigger franchise's name and budget. That'd be the best fit, I think.

Also financially smart. That niche title won't cost a ton to make, but will bring in cash from loyal Duke/Build engine fans. If that game turns out to be successful, especially outside of that niche, then that could be used as a first stepping stone into bringing Duke into a more modern engine. And if not, then at least he could be a mainstay name in the retro/boomer-shooter niche.

Man, I sure can sperg about DukeDaddy.

Edit: DukeDaddy, not DudeDaddy.
