Since some guy made a thread about his favorite rape manga series. I decided to create a thread about one of the most infamous sub-genres.

It really started with one of Ingmar Bergman's masterpieces The Virgin Spring which in itself was based on a folklore legend. Wes Craven saw that and got his foot in the door and made Last House on the Left which was a huge hit theatrically and even got a 3 star rating from Roger Ebert.

Thus, kickstarting what has been dubbed 'The David Hess rape and revenge trilogy" of movies starring the world's scariest Jew the late great David Hess.

This was an Italian directed by Ruggero (Cannibal Holocaust) Deodato. I don't know why the trailer has the title as "House of the Park on the Edge..."

This movie is legit great and should be on a movie night.

Then there's more obvious ripoffs of Last House on the Left like Last House on the Beach and Night Train Murders.

Then there's immortal I Spit On Your Grave which famously Siskel and Ebert got on their soap box and declared that it would make men want to rape women.

Which lead to many more unofficial sequels, ripoffs, remakes and an official sequel 40 years later. Not to mention Turkish I Spit on Your Grave.

I fully agree with Roger Ebert’s review of this movie, actually. It really does send a different message than most other rape-revenge movies.

Tarantino took inspiration from Thriller for the Daryl Hannah character.

Another revenge movie, it's Korean so not everyone's cup of tea. But I'm glad I gave it a try, the trailer is kind of shit though.

No and no. I'm about to blow your fucking mind. I Spit On Your Grave was originally titled Day of the Woman and did very poorly theatrically until legendary distributor Jerry Gross (who distributed Fulci's Zombie and I Drink Your Blood) got it and re-titled it.

First there was Savage Vengeance directed Donald Farmer who is more infamous now for Shark Exorcist. But there was a rights issue and Camille Keaton's character Jennifer from the original had the name bleeped out. Also, Camille Keaton walked leaving the film unfinished but that wouldn't stop Donald Farmer from releasing it.

Then there's another SOV attempt at a sequel.

This one's not very good either.

Leading to the remake and the two sequels. The first remake is pointless. The second one is at least a little different and has the Jennifer Hill stand-in crush the head rapist's balls in a vice. The third one is modeled after the movie Rape Squad.

Same exact idea: rape victims band together to find and then kill their rapist and/or all men.

Then there's an official sequel 40 years later I Spit On your Grave Deja Vu.

It's not great and it's really, really, really overlong. It desperately needed an editor.

Side note: It has been confirmed that it is Demi Moore's ass on the poster for the original I Spit On Your Grave.

This is a cool movie but if anyone is squeamish there is an actual human eye sliced in it. The story goes that the director's friend commit suicide and willed her body to be used however.

Sorry for the double post. But if you dug Kill Bill look for Lady Snowblood. Took alot of inspiration from it.

Last House on the Left, but more specifically the remake. The original has some merits but its completely ruined by tonal shifts regarding the cops, which the remake does without. If you can find an edit of the original without the cops then I say watch it.
