I'd say so, though I don't know how much of that is from my disdain for modern vidya and how much of it is genuine praise. The scathing satire of TV stations is still relevant, however.
Deadlocked was inspired by Halo. The dark, combat focused theme was Insomniac catching up with the success of Halo 2. This was 2005.

Not surprised. 2 was huge back then.

Admittedly, I'm not sure how it holds up as an R&C title compared to the newer ones. I never got a PS3/4, so I've no idea what they're like.

It is kinda its own thing, so it holds up fairly well. It really blurs the line between main-series and spin-off.
I'd consider it part of the mainline series, myself.

Sure, you don't get to platform as much as the other entries, but the combat there has been refined to an honed edge, which I think not even the Future trilogy really matched.

I would consider it too, but it is definitely a black sheep if we consider it mainline. Not at all a bad black sheep though, Deadlocked really was a refined experience.

Deadlocked takes place after Up Your Arsenal. I'd say it's a decent starting point if you're into shooting.

Was just watching the cutscenes for All 4 One. Gotta say, I really support Insomniac’s decision to make a very straight, “not in anyway gay,” friendship between Qwark and Nefarious.

Seriously though, is Qwark a gay icon? My man literally admitted to getting feelings at the sight of 2 dudes hugging and tried to prompt Nefarious into doing it.

I think that's just Insomniac humor with Qwark's wackiness.

Qwark loves himself. Before UYA's conclusion, Qwark was a "hero" that was in it for the fame and glory. His plans to achieve those would fall flat. That's what makes him a funny character.

R&C 2016 mistaken Qwark being a "good character" with him being a "good guy."

I love Qwark’s wackiness, it was just funny how him and Nefarious were handled in All 4 One, it really gives off “a romance that could never happen” vibe. Definitely done as a joke, but still funny to think about regardless.

Best way to describe it is SpongeBob and Squidward vibes.

One thing about Size Matters stands out to me: its marketing.

High Impact Games was really pushing that R&C was on an handheld. That explains the emphasis on "size matters." That's actually clever, shame the execution faltered. Big Clank, little Ratchet, microscopic levels, space exploration. All of that could've worked for Ratchet and Clank and the theme of size.

And that Clank was returning as a playable character. More plausible proof that Size Matters canonically takes place after Deadlocked.

If you go on eBay right now, there’s people selling the first original Ratchet & Clank on the PS2 as a ”RARE” item, except the difference is that its not CIB (Complete In Box). It just has the box, poster (not all the time) and game.

And there is no manual in there, either. How do you get a game as famous as that with no manual?

Oh yeah, OG Ratchet did have a poster. It was pretty cool. Haven't looked at that game in years so I have no idea if I still have mine. But yeah it was both a poster and manual, fairly novel for the time.

Fun fact, Jak and Daxter had the same thing. Even found pdfs of both with a quick search.

That is what's lacking in modern gaming: instruction manuals. Look at the attention to detail with the booklet. Almost like we're going to a whole new world.

Rift Apart is going to be a modern Sonic Adventure

irregardless of quality, people will probably buy it in droves just because it's a sizable franchise been fucking barren for so long and there's also millions of TBs of furry porn already.

I've read some rumors that he's been in awful shape recently, apparently has both alzheimers and covid. Really sucks.
Dude's only 61 and he's already got Alzheimer's. That fucking sucks, man. Jim Ward is awesome and he doesn't deserve that.

I found this article that expanded on it. COVID really put him in bad shape, and his Alzheimer's is bad enough to where he apparently has zero short-term memory.
