He has more knowledge, debunks myths on the regular, records new data, and reaches out for information.

yeah, pan's persona is a double edged sword. it gets laughs and makes him endearing in a pathetic sort of way, which has most definitely played a role in him accruing a sizable fanbase (of degenerates). however, some of the things he's said as well as his overall behaviour online has surely hurt his reputation, and has ruined his chances with people who'd further his career
