Recently, verified Libertarian Twitter accounts have been posting some weird stuff and I'm not sure if it's just shitposting for some cheap attention or genuine retardation. Not sure if publicly supporting child labor and unregulated immigration to cripple the welfare state, even ironically will get you any more votes/support.

Child labour isn't non-existant because the government banned it, but rather the free market itself. Having child labour is pointless in the modern age where even rudimentary jobs require you to use complicated machinery. Plus, you'd rather give everyone the chance to prove their worth intellectually and pick the most talented ones to advanced degrees rather than handicap the entire low income population and hope the high income one doesn't degenerate into retarded aristocracy.

I’m reminded of an anecdote about the Libertarian Party way back in the early 2000’s. Political hopeful wants to get involved, attends a conference with a very well-spoken female candidate. At the end, he remarks something to the effect of “if the party is filled with folks like you, it’s guaranteed to succeed!” To which the candidate responds “just wait”. Next hour or so, he witnesses every variety of nut job at the meet and greet. Even if it was a fake story, the reputation of the LP being batshit is old.
