In a way, I blame the media industry for shit like this. So many people these days, “content creators” especially, seem to think the basic law of economics is “I put effort into this, therefore I deserve to be compensated for that effort”. They have no concept of things like scarcity or supply and demand.
The hard fact of reality is that something has to be both desired and limited to have any value. It doesn’t matter how much people want something, if there’s an infinite supply of it, it isn’t “worth” squat because everyone can always have as much as they want — There’s always more supply than demand.
The problem is that the digital age changed so many things to be technically infinitely reproducible, which tanked their inherent value. If I can make a copy of a song and make copies of THOSE copies, ad infinitum, and they all sound just as good as each other, then why is any one copy worth anything in the first place?
Instead of accepting that fact, the media industry has just spent two decades finding endless ways to induce artificial scarcity and convince consumers that it’s the effort that’s the real store of value.
And that’s why we’re in this bullshit state where people are trying to take legal action because they uploaded a picture to the internet and somebody saved it and reposted it somewhere else. They deserve to be compensated every time somebody looks at that file, damn it! How else can you expect them to pay their bills?!

I have no issues with what is being asked, it clearly makes sense. My only concern is with older threads, especially more inactive ones, that may have some content not properly tagged.
I remember that it used to be a good idea to archive pictures by uploading them to the website, but with this new direction older content may be at risk. Hopefully if such content is found and reported, the mods can properly edit it to be more adequate with the times.

Just a hypothetical, I am completely ignorant on the subject.
What would happen if a big thread (>200 pages), had multiple instances of untagged content spread about; would the "infractions" as it were pile up to affect the search of the thread as a whole or only tank the specific pages that contain the content?
