To not clutter the retail horror thread with Black Friday hate, Retail Kiwis could post what happened during the holidays here because it'll happen so frequently.
LANDWHALE
I never felt so bad for workers until I saw this. This brood comes standing outside of Five and Below just minutes before they opened. I needed to get inside for various reasons, so I hadn't commented at first despite the massive girth she carried. Like, imagine a 5'2 person that was bigger than Chris in terms of how big it reached out. I had to actually squirm to go past her despite the fact the store wasn't actually packed. (Not to the degree other stores were, it was just busy.)
Anyways, as I had to actually get things scattered across the store, I kept hearing her bitch about random shit. Keep in mind, this matters later. So after my mom and sis got their belongings, the line was short. In fact, the line disappeared by the time my sister was done with her own shopping. (My mom and me were finished quicker and the fact that there were 6 cashiers open made things quicker.)
Now, my sister has legit diagnosed Autism and has been diagnosed with OCD. She likes things in a particular way; she can't handle people as well as others can because of it. Seeing how there was no one behind her, she stopped just short so that she can talk to my mother. (Again, she's not very good with people. She's also not good at expressing things.)
Fun starts here. Land whale was in the line right next to us. She starts arguing with Employee A and I felt entirely uncomfortable because she's bitching about money. (...Its Five and Below. There's only 5 options for price range. )Not only that, but she was upset over posters that were not advertised like 2 for 4 for posters, when in reality, she pulled that out her ass. I knew the prices for those items as listed because I had to get posters for someone else. She kept telling the employees what to do because "its too much money" blah blah blah" despite being in the wrong.
She looks at me, then at my sister. Mind you, NO ONE IS IN LINE AT ALL. She states in such a bitchy tone: "You should move along, your holding up the line." Again, there was no line, and even if there was, the only one holding up anyone was her for making a list of complaints during the busiest time of year. At the same time, she's literally counting pennies and her lard made it hard to move around. She took up most of the lane. My mom didn't hear it, thankfully, and neither had my sister.
But they did hear the commentary about the employees after she was done. The other people in the store just stared at her. Oddly, I was with a bunch of kids in a section at one point that were better behaved than her.
Then again, I guess that's better than a bunch of middle aged women screaming loudly right outside of the store about sex. A hour later I still have no idea what the hell they were talking about. (At first it sounded like sex, then they were talking about something that sounded like bondage (?) and it just felt weird.) This was with a middle schooler standing beside her.
