yeah i vaguely remember the first trailer looking like a horror game in space but looking at the gameplay fotage now, it looks like a midcore third-person shooter with bullet hell.

I can't be the only one who has watched clips of this shit and noticed the player movement and weapons look almost exactly like Mass Effect Andromeda can I? It looks almost the exact same to me.

Played a couple of hours so far and its pretty fun. Gameplay is solid and controls are very responsive even with the weird pressure sensitive triggers. It being rogue-lite is going to drive away some players.

I got it. Its very good. Looks great, handles really well. Not surprising because Housemarque is a solid dev.

But, I think longevity depends on how much you like roguelikes.

Haven't played it, but the only thing that I've taken away from it is this game that's "so beautiful" has a very unattractive-looking beady-eyed protagonist at its centre. I'm not expecting a Final Fantasy flawlessness, but you can still make an older character look pretty, and that main picture they use for all its advertising is the worst one of the lot.

There's nothing beyond the aforementioned detail that is visually striking and makes the game stand out. Dead Space had Isaac's helmet, the plasma cutter, the necromorphs that died by unconventional means, etc. This has nothing.

I don't think every woman needs to be attractive in film/games but they should never be as fucking ugly and off-putting as this thing.

The game is great, GOTY so far for me.
It plays incredibly well and the gameplay is tons of fun. Narrative is definitely not going to be for everyone (parts of it are quite interpretative), but it's not some "woke lesbian space marine" story, there's none of that. Sound design is top notch (especially with headphones) and it looks good visually.

I was always skeptical about DualSense because controller innovations tend to be pretty gimmicky ("SHAKE YOUR CONTROLLER TO ESCAPE!"), but this game utilizes it surprisingly well and definitely adds to the experience.

And I imagine it’ll run into problems depending on how much content they’ve put into the game for extended runs. Dead Cells is a hard thing to compare to but that’s probably the gold standard for these roguelites at this point.
