I just watched the latest episode. I didn't laugh once. That's unusual for me, even considering that we're talking about Rick and Morty. (In my experience, there's usually at least *one* good joke per episode.)

As much as I'd like to give this show, Solar Opposites, a fair chance to ultimately win me over, they really could've (more like should've) stepped up their game a little more - particularly on the humor and definitely the art-style/animation (especially if they're secretly trying to make this show more story-driven than R&M ever was, ala Bojack Horseman or something actually criminally underrated (IMHO, anyway.) such as Final Space...).
And... Not surprised to hear that in any sense. Thanks all the same, however.

You're joking right? Everything after the season premiere has been a steaming load of shit. Almost every episode since has some LOL SO RANDOM humor to it that feels straight out of tumblr. The episode closest to being passable was the snake one that was quickly ruined by the cheap and nonsensical terminator twist with the usual time travel bullshit.

Oh, it's definitely some pedo shit. You watch "Bushworld Adventures"? See, in the pilot, that was Doc and Mharti, a parody of Back to the Future, so they weren't related and Mharti was also older. But then the characters got changed. Well, Bushworld Adventures is great shit (it's a parody episode made by Adult Swim themselves), so much so that even people who don't watch the show love it, but it has a scene where Rick tries to get Morty to let him suck Morty's penis (to get snake venom out, because a snake bites Morty on the penis). Now, in Bushworld Adventures, they actually ARE grandpa and grandson. It doesn't really bother me, I like Rick and Morty, but it's really fucked up and I bet you that the writers really are pedofaggots.

Unpopular opinion: I thought the first half wasn't too bad, a little hit or miss but overall good enough. At the very least an upswing from last season which I can't even remember a single episode from.
Did anyone else notice how long that toy train joke went on for at the end? I feel like the writers are a self conscience about their edgy nihilistic comedy show shilling potato chips and greasy fast food.
Phew, I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one who's confused as hell after watching the latest episode. Does anybody else feel that some of Season 4 episodes released so far are too convoluted in terms of narrative? The latest episode and the heist one have so much going on that I'm having trouble following their respective plots. Previously, I could follow the plot of any episode from the first three seasons just fine.
It's Dan Harmon disappearing up his own asshole again. He did the same thing with Community, which was pretty much unwatchable by the time it finished.

To be fair, I don't like Jerry, either - too bad Jerry could have been relatable or someone we could agree/sympathize with, provided of course that the writing for most characters on this show wasn't mostly so goddamn shite for anyone who isn't the MCs, admittedly enough.

Sadly if they'd had just ended with season 3 it would have been perfect. I can't believe some people are still hyping up "and a movie." No, just no. It would probably just be Dan jerking off on screen for 90 minutes.
Looks like I'm gonna have to go back to college to get my second doctorate in order to think Rick and Morty is funny again... I'm clearly not smart enough to appreciate the humor now with the new episodes.
