Do you honestly think anyone in the business with half a brain actually gives a shit about some industry awards show where the prizes are given out arbitrarily?

He deserves the win but look what happened last time when James Franco won the globe for TDA and it was expected he'd get the Oscar nomination.

A lot of people including Gervais are still pissed about Kevin Hart who made jokes saying he'd break a dollhouse over his son's head if he was gay, which was clearly a joke. I think Hart was a turning point for a lot of people in the comedy community because he's genuinely regarded as really really nice as well as milquetoast
Kevin Hart, like most actual comedians, came from a shitty background and had put a lot of time. He worked his ass off until he broke through somewhere around 2010-ish. He was really the only one out of the whole East Coast Cellar Crowd bunch that became a mainstream star, even Louis CK's success was limited to the comedy sphere. If you hear some of the conversations Hart had with those comedians around that time, it's obvious that they all liked the guy, despite the friendly ribbing about him being a Hollywood big shot now.

His career shows quite some similarities with that of Gervais, and the latter started doing American shows when Hart became popular, so it wouldn't surprise me if they knew eachother personally. I don't think a personal connection is the main reason, but it definitely didn't help: he's been mocking these awards shows for weeks over this, saying shit like: “I think it’s a good idea for The Oscars to have no host. No guests and no cameras would be good too. Just tweet the list of winners for anyone who still gives a f***'', and “Not because I’m the best person for the job. No way. But simply because I couldn’t give a f*** about any previous tweets.”

I think what makes Hart's 'cancelation' a big issue for comics is that it was such an overt attack on the art of comedy, and could easily happen to all of them. At least Louis' case was a personal one and more divisive as a result, even the comics that defended his right to perform had to guard their protestations with 'but I don't condone what he did'. They could at least console themselves with the idea that they'd be spared his fate as long as they don't do degenerate shit like that. Someone like Hart being dragged through the dirt for refusing to prostrate himself before the Twitterati is a far louder wake-up call.

Ricky Gervais is testing his jokes before hosting the Golden Globe Awards after Kevin Hart had to pull out of compering the 2019 Oscars due to controversial past tweets.
The British funnyman is returning to host the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual prizegiving for a fifth time on Sunday, having shocked stars in the past with his uncompromising, risque humour.
However, he says the fate of Hart, who stepped down as the host of the Academy Awards after it emerged he had mocked gay people in tweets and old comedy routines, means he’ll doublecheck his routine and drop anything that might destroy his career.

“I start writing immediately. Before I decide to do it, I have to go, ‘Have I got anything? What’s happened?” Gervais tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I write jokes and they’re considered and I make sure they’re bulletproof.
“Nowadays, you’ve got to make sure they’re bulletproof in 10 years’ time, with people going through saying, “He said this once, 10 years (ago).” Kevin Hart (lost) his job for 10-year-old tweets that he said he was sorry about and deleted at the time. So there’s more pressure on making (the jokes bulletproof). It’s the world (watching). This isn’t me in a comedy club.”
However, the star promised he won’t be holding back and sparing stars, such as Mel Gibson, Ben Affleck, or Charlie Sheen, whom he has previously targeted with barbs at the ceremonies.
“People like the idea of freedom of speech until they hear something they don’t like. So there’s still a pressure, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to water it down or back down and not say what I want,” The Office creator adds.

tl;dr Gervais seemed to capitulate to his corporate-progressive critics four days ago by saying ''Gee, I sure have to watch my words, it might be bad for my career if I say the wrong things. I might take some potshots at Mel Gibson though!' And then he did what he did. What a madlad.

The trannies have super sore loose assholes now, they’re shrieking all over twitter about the Bad Joke Man being popular and roasting the Hollywood idiots.

Ricky was 100% spot on with his roasting of their dumbass politics hot takes when they accept their awards. These assholes have a level of wealth not many will ever attain and they’re lecturing poor people across America on who to vote and how bad black trannies have it while they’re wearing expensive designer clothes, tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry, taking home luxury swag bags, and attending ritzy after parties.

Aja Romano is a fat, gross tranny who hates himself and tries to cancel everyone whois more accomplished but doesn’t buy into his delusions. Anyone who doesn’t blow trannies gets an article written about them by Aja.

Like all trannies, Aja Romano is a major narcissist who name searches then whines on twitter when people call him out for being shit awful.

Its not about calling them out to embarrass them. Its to normalize calling them out. Its to normalize saying, "No, fuck you, you self righteous cunt" without getting fired. Its not about just telling someone off, its normalizing this. Once this becomes normalized, you don't get cancelled. People lose their power. This was about stripping them of their self-righteousness.

To quote 'Thank You For Smoking': "I'm not after you, I'm after them." Which is the audience at home. He wants people to get more comfortable being creative and telling sarcastic, dry humored jokes again. He wants to insult them so they can't do anything about it and say what everyone is thinking. It isn't just the fact that he called them out, its the fact that he didn't give a fuck, and was absolutely brutal as he could get away with without outright saying 'fuck you self righteous cunts' and basically dared them to do something about it. Its about removing this fear that the rich and powerful have over everyone, rather than calling things out. They didn't care, of course they didn't, they're oblivious. But what he did tonight was remove some of their power and damaged cancel culture.
Bruh, it ain't that deep. Step back from the monitor before you warp to another dimension.

The only two wins I really was into were Renee Zellweger and Olivia Coleman. As for Ellen- just because they give you as much time to talk doesn't mean she should have rambled on as much as she did.

Glad Phoenix and Coleman won awards. Thought Ricky was hilarious. I've always liked Hanks, tbh, but I have read some disturbing rumours about him on Crazy Days And Nights. I've not seen any actual proof though, so I take anything written about him with a pinch of salt.

Enty Lawyer isn't very reliable. It's fun to hear his stories but it was pretty much revealed that he makes stuff up. So yeah- best to take it with a grain of salt.

This is a scam.

Hollywood knows that we hate their guts now so they're acting all self deprecating in order to make us think:
"Yeah, those rich celebrities over there, they're evil but these rich celebrities over here, they're OK."
None of this is real, none of this is genuine.
They're doing this so that we keep consuming their products and making them richer.

Same shit, different tactics.
Nothing to see here, moving on.
if they're doing things that I like, haven't they earned it?

Arquette also dished on her favorite moments from the show and weighed in on Ricky Gervais’ opening monologue. She said, “I thought it was funny. He told people not to get political, but he was political, so I just said, ‘Forget it, we do what we want.’”
😄
Whatever you say, Patricia Arquette. She also said Ricky was "mansplaining" apparently. 😆

Between this and the New Guy meme I feel like we're starting off the 2020s right.

Also since everyone is talking about Tom Hanks, apparently his reaction is a "major mood" according to Twitter. Like, oof yikes my guy!

Don't forget Dorime Dog, it's brilliant.

And the degenerate version, of course.

Same, love Olivia Coleman since Peep Show and The Night Manager -- pretty much anywhere she's in, she can't do no wrong.

Probably the last good thing that's ever come out of Britain lately. Pretty happy for her.

I don't know if there's real articles about it. One of his friends who used to collaborate on podcasts with him flipped out on Enty a few months ago, because another collaborator connected to Enty turned out to be a big fraud (the other collaborator was John Doe) and a lot more people have talked about how most of Enty's blind items are made up. They're fun to listen to, but I don't know how accurate they are. The problem is they're vague, so everyone believes them.

Anyway- one thing that annoyed me about Patricia Arquette is she spent so much time trying to make a political speech that she didn't even bother to say anything about Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who is still in prison. She got that award by doing a show about Gypsy Rose Blanchard. You figure she would at least mention the victim. What the fuck. But no- it was more important to sperg about politics on stage.
