Guitarist Alex Lifeson has pretty much confirmed that Rush has disbanded after 50 years.

It really sucks, but I'm thankful that I was able to see them in NYC during their R40 tour.

If any band has earned their retirement, it's definitely Rush.

F. Genuine musical talent. Not my favorite band, but I think Fly by Night is an underrated album as 70's rock goes.

Thank god I can quit ducking out of going to their concerts everytime they tour, though. I hate being the only short-haired, clean shaven guy at the show. Also Rush shows are notorious sausage fests.

I've never been a huge fan to tell the truth, although I certainly don't change the station if they come on. Still, every single member of the band has a wall full of trophies and if you rolled them onto stage in wheelchairs at age 100, drooling and slobbering, they'd still fill a stadium. They're generally well regarded by other musicians, too.

I also used to mock Neil Peart for being a Randroid but that wasn't really fair. He's actually somewhat unique among rock musicians in actually having a fairly individual set of political opinions rather than the usual boring leftist Bono stereotype.

Honestly, I think 50 is a good enough year to end the dream on.

I mean, I wasn't expecting them to last until 2112, but man, the fact they lasted this long is amazing.

Though the cynic in me is noting that there seem to be lots of shekels to be garnered from "reunion" tours. Just sayin'. Rush is probably better than that, but...such a thing wouldn't exatly surprise me, either.

I can see Geddy and Alex doing something together in the future,but a Rush reunion outside some occasional gig here and there? I will not bet too much on it
