Brought to us by God's second born son, Jim Sterling, we have Robert. He is a 35 year old guy with (apparently) three kids and tosses all sorts of crap shite on Steam.

This guy has posted five games on Steam in a relatively short amount of time (under a year) using pre-made assets and Unity. (Not necessarily bad things, but that's all he can do) He definitely has the quantity over quality idea down pat, and will hear no more of you mocking his half-assed games!

We also have Medieval Mercs which is a 2d scroller with 3d lighting and view effects. Haven't seen any thing similar to this out there - take a look!

Many more titles out in the future. Two in development more than a dozen in concept/planning.

The "interview" is where things get good, but here's an overview and vid links. There are call outs of him banning people on his games Steam forums for pettiness, as well as threatening Jim with lawsuits for being a big mean, poo-poo head.

These videos are all Jim, but that's mostly due to the developer focusing directly on to him. Most of the developers text crazy can be found on the Steam forums.

Initial contact. Jim does one of his regular first impressions. Here I'm linking the 7 video playlist of Jim's responses.

To sum it up.
-- Jim does what he does and that's first impressions and commenting.
-- Developer gets salty and responds with a "review the reviewer" vid.
-- Jim responds and laughs.
-- Developer uses YT to pull the video down and threatens a lawsuit, and Jim has to wait for the time limit to end.
-- Jim then uploads over two hours of The Slaughtering Grounds gameplay to mock the developer.

In the meantime, the developer is also on his Steam forums banning people and even made a thread asking people to bash him for Steam Keys for his awful abominations.

The video is 1:38:08 long, but it is worth it to hear the stupidity coming out of Robert's mouth. It's pretty amazing. The man doesn't know the first thing about fair use, copyright, the law or game development. I believe the "interview" says more than anything and covers most of what is said in the several hours of video.

Like many good lolcows, he has an over-inflated ego and cannot even follow his own train of thoughts nor arguments, and contradicting himself several times over, all while trying to act like a prosecutor from L.A. Law.

I have nothing more to say. Jim has already eviscerated this man thoroughly. The Slaughtering Grounds is a load of assets thrown haphazardly around with no structure or coherence. Temper Tantrum is a slippery pile of misplaced shit that looks out of place in a Newgrounds page. The guy is a lazy hack who thinks he can ban all of his dissent.

It wouldn't even surprise me if he was one of those assholes that pirate Unity assets.

the really god-awful about Digital Homicide is that might be half decent if they took any degree of pride in what they do. Deadly Profits was no doubt shit but some of the ideas were decent. it could have been a budget Ziggurat with more focus on loot+RPG elements if it was executed competently.

This is somewhat of a tangent but on the topic of hilariously bad game devs that have fucked with Jim Sterling and lost i would like to point you all to Edward Boateng aka 'Eddie Rocks'. He is the ghanian immigrant responsible for Digplex Games and the mastermind of SKATE MAN INTENSE RESCUE

this video was taken down by a copyright claim from Digplex. when contacted by Kotaku he openly admitted that he thought the law was on Jim's side (TRIGGER WARNING: KOTAKU ARTICLE). all that aside the thing that really made me laugh was finding out that Eddie had done a series of hilariously bad music video's, my personal favorite being this:

Back at it again. Posting Jim's vid because it's easier. The Digital Homicide brothers are back at it, and are now having been contacted by another studios lawyers. "Why?" you may ask, why for using the other studios name to publish more poor quality games!

I really hope Robert does another interview or sommat. It went so well last time.

Also he tried to justify said cheap crap by telling Jim he spent hundreds of dollars on the "most realistic" gunshot sound effects he could find. The worst thing is that he doesn't even "get" what Jim's been trying to say for months - using pre-made assets or a simplistic engine isn't the problem, the problem is that he didn't use any of these things in an imaginative way and try to make something of his own out of it.

People like this guy are the reason why indie devs are getting tarred with such a bad name these days. For every person with real imagination and talent, there are 1000 kids who just spend a day with Unity and then say "yep, good enough for Steam."

I'm pretty sure Valve doesn't moderate games anymore because it's more fun that way, let people talk with their wallets instead if they want or not the game at all (especially with the refund thing). To be fair, it's funny to see those shitty titles on the Steam store and see the devs go ape shit when people give it terrible reviews.

Back on topic:
THIS guy, I heard from him before and he's so fucking funny. Back then (months ago, when I heard about him) he would reply to almost every single comment about his "games" (using the term very loosely) and bash whoever made the comment regardless whatever the poster said, heck, sometimes someone would say something nice and he'll just go "Fuck you fucking condescending fuck I don't need your pity". I'll see if I can find those if they haven't been deleted already but yes, this guy has a lot to offer.

Another update. The brothers have been using socks and have released, or are attempting to release, around 19 (!!!) games since last year. Robert also called Jim and threatened a defamation lawsuit, but freaked when Jim said he'd have to talk to his lawyer as well. These guys have no shame in trying to bilk the community, that's for sure.

I'm still on the fence about whether these guys are actually lolcows, but as someone who works in the gaming industry I'm constantly amazed at just how far they're willing to go to get a quick buck. When you're a small indie developer like Digital Homicide, building up brand recognition is your number one priority - the more people who become familiar with your work, the more fans you get, and the more successful your future releases will be. These guys are more than willing to just completely fuck that up to the point where they have to resort to sockpuppets just to get a game on Greenlight.

I'd love to see them start uploading videos defending themselves as Jim said he's going to refuse talking to them one-on-one anymore. That would be amazing.
