The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Tina Turner, Carole King, the Go-Go’s and Todd Rundgren, while LL Cool J, Billy Preston, and Randy Rhoads will receive the Musical Excellence Award.

Im happy to see Todd Rundgren in the HoF because he is an underated both as a musician/songwritter and an innovator in the implementation of the internet with music.

At this point they should change it to the "Modern Music Hall of Fame" or tbe "Contemporary Music Hall of Fame" due to the non-rock inductees but those names don't sound catchy and marketable.

I can hear metalheads racing down the mountains to rant about Maiden's, Priest's and Motorhead's exclusion whole Kraftwerk fans suffer in silence.

Then theres me furiously over the fact nobody talks about Joy Division's snub and how nobody even argues for their place.

In Kraftwerk's defence, they were very influencial to pretty much every musician that is associated with synth or electronic music be it indirectly or not, that includes a fuck-ton of bands ranging from synth/electronic tinged black metal to poppy dance tinged indie rock.
Either way, much deserved since they have been cockblocked multiple times.

It's been the pop music hall of fame for damn near twenty years now. If they weren't, they'd be irrelevant, since Rock has gone the way of Jazz in terms of genres of dying popularity.

come on man. I like jazz as much as anybody but it hasn't had mainstream relevance since the heyday of Kenny G and Wynton Marsalis, and even then it was on the decline. Maybe dying is too strong, but "relegated to the underground" sure as hell isn't. The closest thing to a serious comeback it had was guys like Nujabes making Jazz Hop a thing.

Rush is already in the Hall of Fame and Soundgarden has been nominated, thanks to Chris's death no doubt. On top of that, both bands have consistently been in lists and fan votes for inclusion in the Hall.
