The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Tina Turner, Carole King, the Go-Go’s and Todd Rundgren, while LL Cool J, Billy Preston, and Randy Rhoads will receive the Musical Excellence Award.

Im happy to see Todd Rundgren in the HoF because he is an underated both as a musician/songwritter and an innovator in the implementation of the internet with music.

At this point they should change it to the "Modern Music Hall of Fame" or tbe "Contemporary Music Hall of Fame" due to the non-rock inductees but those names don't sound catchy and marketable.

I can hear metalheads racing down the mountains to rant about Maiden's, Priest's and Motorhead's exclusion whole Kraftwerk fans suffer in silence.

Then theres me furiously over the fact nobody talks about Joy Division's snub and how nobody even argues for their place.
Kraftwerk received an "Early Influence" award, which means they did get in but it's essentially the HOF throwing them a bone, similar to Nile Rodgers.

I don't get why heavy metal fans continue to grouse about the HOF when everybody and their mother knows the HOF isn't meant to be taken seriously. I'd be happy if any of those bands got in, but it's not a big deal.

Todd Rundgren is one of my all-time favorite artists and seeing him get in really brightens my mood. Something/Anything? and Runt: The Ballad of Todd Rundgren are pop masterpieces, and A Wizard, a True Star is the ultimate mindfuck.

And I agree about Joy Division: they are one of the greatest bands of all time and it's sad that they still haven't even gotten nominated yet.

Noel said something like, "Glastonbury isn't for people who can't play the guitar."
I'm a huge Oasis fan, but that was a dumbass moment on the part of Noel. And of course, it made him look petty and out-of-touch.

come on man. I like jazz as much as anybody but it hasn't had mainstream relevance since the heyday of Kenny G and Wynton Marsalis, and even then it was on the decline. Maybe dying is too strong, but "relegated to the underground" sure as hell isn't. The closest thing to a serious comeback it had was guys like Nujabes making Jazz Hop a thing.
Snarky Puppy, Jacob Collier, Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Tigran Hamasyan, and the like are reasonably popular. Not mainstream, but far from dead. There are also YouTubers like Charles Berthoud who touch on the genre.

Kendrick Lamar collaborating with Kamasi Washington was probably the most mainstream jazz got in the last few years. Rock is basically in that position as well, which is underground but not dead. An actual dead genre is something like doo-wop or 1940s big band music.
