Well, it was only a matter of time before a certain group chimped out over the film's cast.

Oh dear, another boycott. Well, it's not like Rogue One will break any box office records... because The Force Awakens already did that.

I can already see the guy who wrote this rant cracking his knuckles ready to complain about Felicity Jones' character once the movie is out:

...At times like this I almost miss the sperging about whether Han shot first or not.

Feel free to add more salty posts & take bets on how much this movie will make over opening weekend.

Here's the old SW salt thread:

I don't see how having female/non-white characters hurts the movie so much. Why do they think it will lower the quality?
I read in the other thread on this movie that they are excessively shoehorning in lots of Hong Kong and Chinese actors into this movie to pander to the Chinese market because Episode VII bombed so hard in China and Disney is determined to make up for that loss this time around

Eh, it's a Galaxy jam packed with all kinds of aliens and shit, so having a widely diverse cast makes a lot of sense. Plus, my 9 year old niece has been asking for all the Star Wars Nerf guns for Christmas so I figure it's inspired her a bit so that's cool

I don't dislike Ghostbusters or The Farce Awakens because of a diverse cast, infact in a galaxy that would be more realistic.

I dislike them because they suck, I will safely say that The Force Awakens was worse than the prequels.

Please, at best the Force Awakens was mediocre. The plot may be a pointless rehash of episode IV and VI, but at least it isn't 80 minutes of two people slowly walking in front of a green screen interspersed with 20 minutes of lightsaber ballet and bad CGI establishing shots.

On topic, this outrage over Rogue One feels a lot like the outrage over episode VII or Ghostbusters. The actual numbers of people autistically screeching over the movie having a diverse cast or progressive politics is tiny in comparison to the number of virtue-signaling journos who blow it up as some huge issue for clicks. Anecdotally speaking, most people I know think it looks OK. Most are psyched for Donnie Yen to be a jedi, but think another super-capable young female hero reeks of trying to get the Hunger Games audience to watch Star Wars.

I'm not gonna lie, the casting decisions do seem kind of pandering. It's almost like someone was going down a list of ethnicities and going "Gotta have one of these, gotta have one of these, gotta have one of these..." Ultimately though, I don't think it's anything to get worked up over. Star Wars has always ignored issues of race and sex so I don't think we'll get any vomit-inducing virtue signalling this time round.

Puh-lease. I'd rather watch an entertaining, well-made rehash of Episode IV than whatever the fuck was going on in the Prequels, even if they were more "original".

I mean, the lead writer was one of those safety pin losers, so I can understand some of the criticism:

But yeah this TFA didn't suck because it starred a black man and a white woman, it sucked because of how poorly it was written. These /pol/-tier spergs just see a heroine or someone with a different skin color and start REEEEEing nonstop, which ultimately gives more credence to the fact that people who have problems with these characters are racists or sexists.

I can't wait for this to happen again with episode VIII, and with the Han Solo film (because Emilia Clark is cast for that one, and you know how much the internet loves her).
