That being said, if anyone could survive wandering aimlessly through the Levant in the middle of a war only to die in Canada of all places, it's Eli. Not that I think that actually happened, but it's still amusing. I think it's more likely that Eli simply discovered BC Bud and Poutine and has thereby simply been too busy to keep his commander updated.
