I wonder if we'll get some good cringe angry posts out of this one.

LOL, yep.
I can't wait to watch this episode.
What these fools miss is that you can not like a religion, but still be fine with a number of the worshippers.

Darlene is obviously a fucking awful parent. Both of her kids are terrible, for completely different reasons.. The daughter was clearly an unlikable so and so (way worse than Darlene herself ever was as a kid) from the beginning, but Darlene's son actually rubs me the wrong way even more, and not at all for his wardrobe choices... (I actually kind of liked him in the first few episodes... ) But in the most recent episode, he was given a paid project from Dan, that he decided to completely ignore the instructions to and "creatively" interpret them into doing his own thing... (which was fucking stupid) Yeah, that made it clear he needs more discipline than his mother is willing to give him, especially when Da1rlene took his side.. Everything Dan said was completely correct, and Darlene was wrong to even try to go against it...
Granted, David constantly flaking out as a parent didn't help.

Finally got around to watching it earlier. Yeah, it was nice of Roseanne to learn something (remember the whole episode where DJ doesn't want to kiss the black girl and both Dan and Roseanne are forced to reflect on themselves as a result?). Although I will say the cashier girl was really over the top. Retail workers are mostly thankful of their jobs, they hate it, yes, but they know it's money. They will not go out and out blatant like that when insulting the customers.

I'm not sure how many people thought about this, but it was smart of them to put both storylines with the muslim neighbours, and Dan losing a job to illegal immigrants in the same episode. If they dealt with Dan getting outbid in any other episode, it would have resulted in a huge shitstorm about how "ROSAN HAETS IMIGRINTS REEEEEE!!!!" that is, if the episode would even be allowed to air at all.

Not gonna lie, the latest episode gave me feels... I'm not entirely sure they're good feels though...

Yeah, it's pretty deep. It veered into black comedy when Roseanne was drunk off her ass and was trying to bite Dan's leg off, but it definitely was an intervention that needed to happen, and so it should be quite the journey to watch Roseanne fight her addition.

Aunt Jackie strikes again this episode. God she's nuts, but she's great.

Dear God, Aunt Jackie has somehow become a horrible human being since the original run ended... I dare say I would even label her "deplorable" (And yeah, I totally mean anything ironic one might gather from that statement)... And I would be lying if I said I did not absolutely love her for it. Lol.

Also, I'm really sad at the lack of focus season 10 at least, had on DJ and his daughter... Of all the original children and their grand-children, I find the two of them to be by far the most likable... (probably not surprisingly, DJ was the most likable of the original children for me at least) and yet, the show barely focuses on them... Darlene and both of her kids are absolute shits, and Becky has always been terrible... but DJ's daughter Mary actually seems like she's on the level... And I'm not just saying that because I'm (pretending to be) black.

Roseanne was always about a family of arseholes (yes, even Dan) though. I'm still not sure how to think about Mary (Still too saintly to be a Connor though).

As for this episode, yeah, Roseanne having an addiction to painkillers is an interesting direction and I'm wondering where they're going to go with it.

Yeah I get it, they're all supposed to be assholes, and always have been... that's why I don't even hate Aunt Jackie for being one.... Still I want to see more of DJ and his family, Becky sucks, Darlene is fine... (but I've seen enough of her) It kind of feels like DJ has had even less of a focus than even minor returning characters have had so far,,,

Yeah I get you. I do really want to know more about what happened to DJ during the 20 years too, as we know exactly what happened with Becky and Darlene.

I think the PTSD storyline is the set up for it, but with two episodes left of this season, I really hope they don't rush it, especially considering they've now already got a massive arc happening with Roseanne's addiction.

To be fair, the Roseanne addiction subplot came the fuck out of nowhere... (They showed she was on pills before, but unless i missed somethigng, last episode was the first hint at her addiction... don't get me wrong, I *like* that particular sub plot, just think it could have been foreshadowed better...) As for DJ and PTSD, that is currently not something that they have even slightly set up. Seems like a good progression for the character if im being honest, but it is not currently there...

I think there are hints at it. DJ not being allowed back in the army and seeing a therapist for instance.

I do agree that the addiction storyline could have been better foreshadowed though, I think Roseanne described the pills as lifesavers at one point, but that's hardly good foreshadowing, that could just be a turn of phrase.

Maybe I'm a little savvy or what, but ever since Roseanne and Dan admitted they swap pills with each other, I was waiting for a sub-plot/episode that would focus on addiction whether to your typical drugs or prescription drugs like painkillers. And lo and behold, it's happening. Kind of didn't expect it to be Roseanne yeah yeah, the character and actor are basically the same inside and out, but it's appropriate. I think it's quite telling about the state of the family from just how suspicious they were in the beginning of the episode in wondering if anyone was sneaking pills, though maybe there's a bit of trust issues in that case.

So yeah, tonight's was the season finale.

Again, pretty good, some brilliant acting from John Goodman as per usual, particularly the scene where he loses it in the basement, and it's good to see the Connors have something go their way (even if Trump misspelled Illinois :P)

However the addiction plot line seemed to have been wrapped up pretty quickly, and we still haven't had a decent DJ episode, hopefully they'll be more satisfactorily addressed in Season 11.

They focused more of the episodes on Darlene and Becky and pretty much ignored DJ. I'm kind of disappointed.

Darlene I can understand, as she was the most popular Connor child, plus Sara Gilbert was a driving force in getting the show back, but I do wonder about the Becky focus.

I know one of the original concepts was DJ died in Iraq, so I'm wondering if they really didn't know how to write DJ and are trying for some kind of Roseanne/Jackie-esque relationship with the girls. After all, Becky is seeming to get a bit more crazy-eyed as she goes along...

Now that you mention it, they really changed Becky's character. She was a dumb teen but she was always levelheaded, even with Mark.

I liked the finale, (even if it wrapped everything up a little bit too neatly for my taste.) I'm actually starting to buy into the DJ ptsd theory, hopefully he gets more screen time next season.

It's kind of funny that it took a major eccological disaster to have things be in their favor. Despite all their disfunction, the Connors genuinely care and support each other.
