Ruckersville/CVille Day trip? -

  • Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Looking into some solutions.

My significant other and I are floating the idea of a holiday in the US (from AUS) next year and the suggestion came from me for a day trip to Ruckersville and Charlottesville. If you were spending the day there, where would you go? The Game Place and a quick drive by photo of 14BLC come to mind, and perhaps a visit to Fashion Square mall or PVCC in the cards. So if you spent the day in Chris' world, where would you go?

Not sure if Off-topic is the right place for this thread (it's not direct discussion of OPL after all) and I'm not trying to :epik: ween the place up, I just want to see the sights, take in the place, maybe pose for photos with a bottle of Fanta. Any suggestions?

Those places are known for one thing...being very boring. It's cool seeing Chris related things I guess but why not go somewhere a lot more interesting? You only have one life and I'm sure it's better spent not tracing the footsteps of a guy like Chris

Oh yeah and :julay:

Save the gas money you'd spend going from Charlottesville to Ruckersville and put it towards a day pass at Monticello. (That's in Charlottesville.)

I would skip it and check out DC instead. If you must, I would just hit up some of his past haunts, like the Game Place or the mall. Can't imagine they would be a lot of fun though.

I would only consider going to Ruckersville if I lived in that area of Virginia. But I live all the way down in Alabama, no. Seriously, Ruckersville is a boring city and no different than any small southern town. The game stop might be a neat place, but I would only go if I was guaranteed to have an interview with the Synder about OPL and if not it would just be awkward to ask him about it.

Also, I don't play TGC, so I really have no reason to be there, maybe if they sold stuff like games or manga I would have more of an excuse to check it out, but I probably wouldn't buy anything. Seriously, if you are going around Virginia do what another poster said and go to DC, or something. America has much better to offer than a random southern hick town.

Don't go to Ruckersville, especially if you're traveling all the way from Australia. Use that money and go somewhere like New York. Or DC. Or Hawaii. Or the Pacific Northwest. Or Vegas. Or Miami. Or Boston or New Orleans or even St. Louis or San Francisco or Disney World.

Just please don't waste your money and go across two hemispheres so you can look at a burnt house.

I've never been overseas in my life. If I did for a holiday trip you bet your ass I'd go to the good places. Not where some lolcow lives.

So you are really dead set on going on a pilgrimage to C-Ville. I mean, I guess it's your vacation? It may be more boring than you might think. It's probably not gonna be a magical la-la land of julays and such. It looks like any old podunk town to me besides the fact that Chris lives there. .

Literally exactly my suggestion. I'll be doing a day at Monticello this week (and may have to do a quick drive by.)

Virginia's got some good places for tourists. I'd check out Monticello and Arlington. There's some Civil War historic sites, too.

I'm pretty sure if I spent a day in Chris' world I would shit myself and do nothing.

Maybe I should start a tour service there. It'd be like those haunted Hollywood tours except with more feces.

You could call it the "Rollin' and Trollin'" Tour!

Monticello sounds neat, I might have to go see that too. Jefferson was a bretty cool dude. And this isn't the only place I'd be going, I'm thinking 2-4 weeks and hitting up some places across the west and east coasts. It just struck me that 5 hours of driving would be involved and that'd be enough for a day trip.
