Rugrats (2021) - paramount plus

I decided to get Paramount Plus because the spin off of Yellowstone is going to be on here and the original is one of the few shows I bond with my dad over; so I decided to check this out as well because why not.

I also have to mention, the first Rugrats movie was my very first movie in the theater, around the age of 2, and the second one is the film I saw the most in a theater, like 7 or 8 times. I rewatched the original recently, I only really liked the first 3 seasons, and the two movies have a soft spot in my heart, but I digress

Good things:
  • baby stuff is fine
  • I don't mind Didi's replacement
  • Betty, while I hate her new personality, her voice isn't too bad

bad things:
  • CG, I get why its used because Gen Alpha likes 3d more than 2d, so I get why its used, I just don't like it personally.
  • Chuckies replacement is horrible, then again her original VA has been dead for 7 years, and hasn't been working for 21; and the replacement is the same from the second movie onward
  • Cheryl Chase sounds worse than death
  • personality changes were shit
  • Angelica looks like she has a cold with her redish nose
  • Chaz sounds like the worlds most half-assed impression of him I've ever heard in my life
  • I miss Grandpa Lou "FIFTEEN MILES" Pickles

at the end of the day, despite all my complaints, I really don't care enough to complain any more than what I just stated.

shit was only 'disproven' because John K apparently originated the term,
Pedo or not he makes great points about why the industry is shit
Isn't John K infamous for being horrifically inefficient as an artist? I remember Simpsons with that "Clip Not Ready" stab at him. He's not in any position to judge the industry considering his inability to deliver a product on schedule.

Not to mention when he finally did, it looked like complete ass that would put even the worst Canadian ToonBoom show to shame just by being incompetent on a fundamental level.

Jonh K is a faggot but in his heyday he was still part of the animation industry and knew many of the ins and outs, part of the reason why I think he got away with many of the things he did for many years.

But anyways, no surprise that the reboot is shit. Nick has nothing to offer besides Spongebob and no other creator wants to do shows for them since they are known for treating them like shit unless they become the next Spongebob.

I’ve skimmed the five episodes, and noticed one thing in particular: How cramped it feels.

While I absolutely do agree that the adults were the best part of the original show, the babies themselves were at their best when they were going around various one-off locations and unintentionally destroying them just by exploring unsupervised. It’s sort of “classic” comedy, and I don’t necessarily mean that in a strict quality sense, more the style itself.

In the new series, once you get past the big double-length debut special that quite obviously had a higher budget attached, the rest of it takes place 90% at a single location, the Pickles house. It genuinely feels like they were trying to make it as cheap as they possibly could, or they were given a set budget and used it all trying to make the special and had nothing left for the rest of the show.

It doesn’t even try to do what the original did with its perspective tricks to make the area seem larger than it is, so instead it’s really easy to notice just how small the “set” is.

You are likely right, cgi toons can save money byreusing the environments, while with 2d animation unless you were doing some Hanna-Barbera style animation that just wouldn't work. But in terms of cheap cgi animation you have seen nothing yet, Unreal Engine is already starting to get used in effects and animation in tv shows, once Unreal 5 is out, I expect way more studios to pick it up to cut costs in tv animation.

What every I wonder if that's what make pedos decide that rugrats are gay icons now?
I wouldn't put too much stock in random articles mate, it's all white noise at the end of the day. I've seen this type of thing before, you pick something at random and decide it's an icon of good rep. Load of meaningless blather.

Don't take the wrong idea here: Criticize things you feel are bad, but never let it have power over you. That's a lesson I learned a while back. You can get lost in self-righteous anger and become just as much of an insufferable person as the people you're criticizing.

I'm just curious if the reboot made Susie even more insufferable and a token than she already was

I'm assuming Tommy is basically the same annoying Gary Stu
