Rugrats (2021) - paramount plus

Life is Hell...

That clip looks worse than even amateur Source Filmmaker shitposts. Just look at how the clown lamp explodes:

It looks like every single piece breaking apart was animated by hand, clumsily trying to make the clown breaking apart more dramatic. Like, surely you could get better results by just recording that in Gmod with a gust of wind blowing the fragments towards the camera, and setting gravity a little bit low.
I've honestly seen much better glass physics from something like this
And it was done around the same time the original Rugrats pilot was made, and even if it looks extremely primitive today, it's leagues better than what these modern animators can make

So I just saw the first ep called second time around. And well it's not too bad like I said it really should have been a one off special. The opening spoofs of Jurassic Park and world feel like its ripping off the trailer to the animaniacs reboot that became the best part of that show.

A Few things are cringy and show the writers don't get "current year " like making betty a Batista at a coffee shop serving a customer named "gen z" who gives a duck face while taking a selfie and Betty asks her to "tag us. " seriously that's something fairly odd parents made in its cringey final season.

But thats just the writers being out of touch with what's "hip with the kids these days " oh and there's grandpa and the adults he's not as bad as Mariposia said, thought I don't get why they made him a guru into yoga....i don't get it. And the adult voices do NOT match. I know Joe alasky and Jack rirley are no longer with us but they could have least gotten kaith souice back.

And yes they did make betty a full on lesbian. There's a throw away line about her having one "ex girlfriend. "

It all just feels... Wrong, too different. Like something trying to be familiar but the charm and feeling just isn't there. I cant hate it but I'm just stick with Rewatching the original and trying to remember the days of future past gone by.

I'm pretty sure this show only exists because somebody who worked on All Grown Up made a wish that people would say that it wasn't that bad in hindsight, only to realize that they were holding a monkey paw while they were saying it. Holy shit this remake is terrible.
I want more
when all grown up is a better show in comparison, you know you fucked up

Maybe this will lead to another season of All Grown Up?

I never watched All Grown Up. I was well into my teens and hadn't watched Rugrats in years by this point.

However, I was perplexed that a show whose gimmick was "Cute talking babies go on adventures" thought it was a good idea to remove the gimmick entirely by having them grow up. I mean doesn't the whole show hinge on them being babies??? If you take them out of that, doesn't it just become a shitty version of Peanuts or Doug or something?

I just now realized that with this Rugrats reboot, we’ll never get the proper movie for this underrated character:

I am bored af and cannot sleep. I have to get up for work in 4 and a half hours. So I made a little breakfast and decided to watch the first episode.

I grew up with the show. It didn't age well for me. The bits with the adults were the funniest parts and became memes for good reason. I don't mind the CGI. I get why they went in that direction and it's better than Cal Arts shit.

The baby stuff is fine. I'm not the audience for that but the interesting thing is that they seemed to have divided at least the first episode with the babies and the adults. The adults is kind of "How do you do, fellow kids?" kind of shit. The voices are so, so off from the originals. The only one that kind of sounds like the original is the voice actor for Didi. The gay shit is there and pretty blatant. In the first episode, the B plot is Grandpa Lou being setup on dates via a dating app for Octogenarians. Later in the episode, multiple women come to the home including a dude with flowers for Lou...

It's perfectly mediocre nostalgia bait. A memberberry smoothie for faggots to indulge in.

I decided to get Paramount Plus because the spin off of Yellowstone is going to be on here and the original is one of the few shows I bond with my dad over; so I decided to check this out as well because why not.

I also have to mention, the first Rugrats movie was my very first movie in the theater, around the age of 2, and the second one is the film I saw the most in a theater, like 7 or 8 times. I rewatched the original recently, I only really liked the first 3 seasons, and the two movies have a soft spot in my heart, but I digress

Good things:
  • baby stuff is fine
  • I don't mind Didi's replacement
  • Betty, while I hate her new personality, her voice isn't too bad

bad things:
  • CG, I get why its used because Gen Alpha likes 3d more than 2d, so I get why its used, I just don't like it personally.
  • Chuckies replacement is horrible, then again her original VA has been dead for 7 years, and hasn't been working for 21; and the replacement is the same from the second movie onward
  • Cheryl Chase sounds worse than death
  • personality changes were shit
  • Angelica looks like she has a cold with her redish nose
  • Chaz sounds like the worlds most half-assed impression of him I've ever heard in my life
  • I miss Grandpa Lou "FIFTEEN MILES" Pickles

at the end of the day, despite all my complaints, I really don't care enough to complain any more than what I just stated.

shit was only 'disproven' because John K apparently originated the term,
Pedo or not he makes great points about why the industry is shit
