Congratulations Admiral and welcome back. Lead the Kiser’s fleet well and fuck up the Russians.View attachment 805981
There's a new update for Rule the Waves II, and honestly I've done as much as I can with this save. The aircraft carrier restrictions really hampered me. In 1946, I'm calling it good. I had to deal with a ton of bullshit in terms of tech, and I do mean real bullshit. Treaties and tech both royally fucked over my plans long term. If I do a small nation again, I'm doing game budget, just to make things more interesting.

Oh, now this is going to be interesting.
Meme designs are possible. I’ll try to build some battlecruisers with cross deck fire. Same with battleships, if I don’t get super firing turrets soon enough.Congratulations Admiral and welcome back. Lead the Kiser’s fleet well and fuck up the Russians.
Any meme designs this time around or is it just too much of a hassle. Either way if you still got the time I really liked those little battle reports you did during the A-H run.
Try Battlestations Midway/Pacific; it’s similar to Atlantic Fleet. From the same developers as Atlantic Fleet I highly recommend Cold Waters. Its a spiritual successor to the classic PC game Red Storm Rising, and has some very good moments. In a similar vein, Silent Hunter 3 and 4 are both good WWII submarine games. Wolfpack is still in alpha but if you’ve got friends willing to try it with you I would pick it up. It’s very immersive.A little off topic, but what's everyone's favorite naval game? Or just some good ones?
I like actually managing the ships tactically and had some fun with Atlantic Fleet. I just wish they had pacific version.
CMANO is one of those games I wish I could get into, but I really don't have the patience to embrace the autism. I played Battlestations Pacific a long time ago, maybe it's time for another run to get that tactical Pacific itch taken care of.Meme designs are possible. Battle reports are a lot of fun. The Japan game just never offered the sort of battles I would enjoy doing reports on.

For the more autistic and varied simulations, I’d look at Command: Modern Air and Naval Operations. You can likely pick it up this summer for cheap during the steam sale. It’s essentially Harpoon on steroids. Want a detailed list of available Soviet interceptors along with performance data and weaponry used? What about the hypothetical Super Tomcat? It’s all in there, along with a smorgasbord of other creations, and a lot of community scenarios. Otherwise, buy the Northern Inferno campaign pack - it’s stand alone from the game and offers 13 missions focused around a hypothetical Cold War gone hot in 1975. It’s really interesting to see that capability gap between the Soviets of that era and NATO, when it comes to Soviet anti-ship missiles, and NATO anti-missile capabilities.
No. Those kinds of monitors were pretty much exclusively for shore bombardment, not naval combat. As such they’re out of the scope of the game.Is it possible to make Monitors like the Erebus or Roberts-class, and would they even be viable?
I need B mounts. Crossdeck Fire lets me simulate that to a degree, but it isn’t a perfect fix. What I really want is all or nothing armor - without it my designs are going to be heavier and slower.Honestly, you're getting a lot luckier with the tech this time around, and I bet the (slightly) improved funding and better education helps a lot too. With Japan, you had dick to call for Torp protection and I think you at best had 14 inchers thanks to the Brits at this time too. Actually, you didn't even really have that I think, since you had that decade long BS war. I mean, barring getting Y turrets and something like double or triple mounts, your blueprint pattern's mostly ready. Also nice, Zeppelins! Hope you make a not shit carrier for Pacific use when you get the techs.
Seriously, you are so much further ahead than your Japan game it's like the game is apologizing for throwing three successful arms limiting treaties and refusing to give you anything that is needed for a good ship design.
Huh, this is weird, it looks like the images are gone. Which is weird but the descriptions are done well enough that they aren’t really needed. Good work man! Kick the Cheese Monkeys ass.View attachment 807313
So uh, yeah, my battleships are now obsolete. Shit. As is though, this war is turning into a commerce focused one - raiders are the only ones seeing action for the first three months.
View attachment 807316
We get an engagement though, and I'll take it.
View attachment 807319
Once again, the Hertha is steaming around the Red Sea in August. The seas are a little rough, which benefits me. 21 knots might be the limit of speed, so I'll focus on catching them
View attachment 807321
View attachment 807322
I initially identified this as a battleship. She's about as well armored as mine, but she has better guns but fewer of them. She's also got a heavier secondary battery - this is the price I pay for speed. She's lighter but arguably will do better in a slugging match. I need to cross her T, and get close - I can't penetrate her main belt but I should be able to blast through her extended armor and turrets.
View attachment 807325
Wait.
View attachment 807326
OK, abort.
View attachment 807327
As I'm turning away, she nails one of my turrets, and my secondary battery - and penetrates it. It's superficial damage. I easily run away from her and count my blessings she wasn't faster.
View attachment 807328
It's marginal - she was able to damage me while I was only really able to scurry away.
View attachment 807330
The game keeps giving me tension events with France. I don't want to fight two wars at the same time. It's not good policy.
View attachment 807332
For the first time though, my raiders start to do damage. I moved one of my lighter light cruisers into the mediterranean, and it'll do its job.
View attachment 807334
Again, I'll take it. I can run away if I have to.
View attachment 807335
Good news and bad news. Good news, I've got both a light and heavy cruiser here. Bad news, it's twilight. And I might be up against battleships at close range. Not fun.
View attachment 807336
Aw shit. Luckily, night falls, and they can't see me. I just need to find and kill those transports.
View attachment 807337
Or not. TURN AWAY!
View attachment 807339
We chased down the transports at least, slipping past the escorts in the night. Oh boy, it's time for a fucking slaughter.
View attachment 807340View attachment 807342
Gunnery and night fighting training is showing itself at these close ranges, even with only basic fire control.
View attachment 807344
We leave six sinking ships behind us in the dark. We'll call it good and take the victory, and slip away in the dusk.
View attachment 807348
It's really not a victory though. The Italians transports survived, mostly because I couldn't find the rest in the dark.
View attachment 807350
Minor victory, which makes sense.
View attachment 807351
My submarines also finally finish, freeing up funds for finishing the four battleships I have in construction.
View attachment 807356
In December, I get a bit of a break - a coastal raid is a good chance for me to do some real damage.
View attachment 807359
Ahahaha!
View attachment 807362
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
View attachment 807365
A large enemy coastal raid in the Baltic gives me my entire fleet to play with.
View attachment 807366
Sadly I wasn't able to find them. It would have been brutal for the Italians.
View attachment 807367
Also we're somehow blockading them. I don't know how.
View attachment 807368
Oh. Oh that's why. All their capital ships are in either Northern Europe or the Indian Ocean. They fix this issue in a month or so.
View attachment 807369
Captured Italian torpedoes has given us a tech boost.
View attachment 807371
I was hoping for a peace, but hey. War helps with my battleship construction.
View attachment 807372
Central Firing is also a big boost.
View attachment 807378
A coastal raid in the Red Sea once again starts up. I take the battle, but I've got no idea if I can complete it - it's a bombard target mission. This DD keeps shadowing me on the way to the target too.
View attachment 807379
He doesn't stop me from just cruising along, and pounding it with 9 inch guns.
View attachment 807385
It took about half my ammunition, but I finally blast it to nothing. Just in time too, night falls soon after.
View attachment 807386View attachment 807387
Nice.
View attachment 807388
I get lucky. They call it quits.
View attachment 807389
Eritrea is good, and I'll also grab Rhodes, just so I have something in the Mediterranean.
View attachment 807394
I also get good news in regards to 10 inch guns - quality 0 is very good.
View attachment 807396
About a year after the war, things are going pretty swimmingly. I could use more prestige and budget, that's for sure.
View attachment 807397
The tensions aren't too bad either.
View attachment 807398
Holy shit.
View attachment 807400
This ship won't hold up for more than a decade, maybe two, but she's ideal for colonial service later on. A massive secondary battery, in 7.5 inches of armor will mean that even ships like armored cruisers will be wary of straying into range. 11 inch quality 0 guns will do quite well too, as shell penetration increases. She's pretty much perfect for later upgrade into oil firing - give her an extra three knots of speed and she'll be a terrifying coastal defense ship.
View attachment 807404
Also, fuck the French.
View attachment 807405
I get Cross Deck Fire the same month. Holy shit. I'll need to check if I can build a dreadnought battleship now - and it's a no. I don't have main battery wing turrets unlocked yet.
View attachment 807413
I do however, design this monster. She'll be nasty for the next half decade at least - 10 inch guns and a massive 6 inch battery means she'll rip apart other armored cruisers, and her speed means she can most likely outrun battlecruisers. I'll take two please.
View attachment 807419
1906 will be an interesting year. Hopefully, we'll get the tech for Dreadnoughts.
View attachment 807421
Well well - it's started.
View attachment 807423
Aaaand that sucks for the ships I just built. But it means my first dreadnoughts will be better than the competition.
View attachment 807427
I'd like a better destroyer. 600 tons, good range, and more torpedo tubes. Plus, 30 knots of speed. She's a speed demon alright.
View attachment 807430
A new cruiser is also a no brainer. She's got very little in terms of secondary arms, but she'll be a good colonial ship, and a decent raider. 24 knots is a hell of a good speed at this point.
View attachment 807434
I can create semi-dreadnoughts now. I'm tempted, but I'll wait.
View attachment 807435
Well that destroyer class is obsolete now.
View attachment 807436
Armor is getting better too. The dreadnought race is looking like it'll start late.
View attachment 807438
View attachment 807439
Yeah, no.
View attachment 807440
Quit mocking me game. Anyway, it's time to design the next generation of battleship, once I get enough cash.
View attachment 807442
View attachment 807443
Containing Japan isn't a bad idea either.
View attachment 807445
Waiting around for funds also helps in other ways. Superimposed X turrets means I can make improved dreadnought designs right away.
View attachment 807446
This is going to be one hell of a battlecruiser for quite a few years. 11 inch guns, good speed and armor, and deck armor that'll keep her relevant for at least the next five years. She'll be expensive as hell though.
View attachment 807458
This isn't also the greatest of battleship designs, but she's got 5 11 inch turrets, a foot of armor, 22 knot speed, and an OK secondary battery. She's got torpedo defense, and critically, medium range as well. I can send her around to various locations, something important in my mind, if I have to fight a war with either Italy, or god forbid Japan in the future.
View attachment 807462
British battleships aren't too much different, though they switched around armor for armament. They're also smaller, thus cheaper. They can have more of them, which could be a problem in future.
View attachment 807464
Luckily, my gunworks give me an opportunity once my design proposals are finished.
View attachment 807468
The redesign is going to be costly, it's pretty much an entirely new ship. I drop a knot of speed and some secondaries, some ammunition, and some armor on the secondaries. Her weight also balloons by 3000 tons. But, I think she'll work as a first generation dreadnought.
View attachment 807475
Son of a bitch. I just need superimposed B turrets now.
View attachment 807481
You're fucking kidding me. The ITALIANS have oil now?
View attachment 807485
I get better torpedo protection in early 1910, along with 900 ton destroyers. I'll need to design a new class of them sooner or later.
View attachment 807494
As I'm building four hannovers and a worth, I get this. Fuck.
View attachment 807500View attachment 807502
I try to take over North Korea. It doesn't go too well. I end up in a cruiser battle, with my new cruisers.
View attachment 807504
View attachment 807506
This could be an interesting fight.
View attachment 807508
Their cruisers aren't any kind of threat to me.
View attachment 807511
We also draw first blood - a destroyer sent to the bottom.
View attachment 807516
Poor weather finally hides the Russians from my sights. Night falls too, so I call it there.
View attachment 807519
We stomp the Russians flat.
View attachment 807520
A prestigious victory, without a doubt.
View attachment 807521
A coastal raid also cues up a battle here. The Italian ships are easily outclassed by mine. This will be easy.
View attachment 807524
I set one of them on fire, and continue to pound the crap out of them.
View attachment 807526
I do inflict heavy damage on the Italians however, but I don't sink them.
View attachment 807527
The Russians are already under blockade.
View attachment 807528
It's going to be one hell of a long raiding war.
View attachment 807530
Or not. I push for hard terms. It doesn't amount to really anything.
View attachment 807531
A technical agreement with Great Britain also helps me out. I've got to design new destroyers sooner rather than later.
View attachment 807532
Oh man, if I only had oil.
View attachment 807537
Airships? Holy shit, airships!
View attachment 807543
The Kaiser wants battleships. Lots of battleships. I've got 3 more Hannovers going, and another 3 BC's to meet his requirements. I lose some prestige from the debt, but I get them going.
View attachment 807551
This is a big advantage. I'll need to look into this soon, once I can get super firing guns. I also get 1100 ton destroyers. Shit.
View attachment 807558
I'll build this destroyer now. She's almost twice as big as my current models, and has heavier guns.
View attachment 807559
The tail of 1915 gives me director fire. Which is nice, but I don't have anything really good enough to exploit it. I'll need to make a new design.
View attachment 807566
She's a little awkward. I've only got quality -1 14 inch guns, and a limited weight budget. Her short range will be a problem later on, but 23 knots isn't bad, and neither are 10 14 inch guns.
View attachment 807570
Well shit.
View attachment 807579
This is the epitome of a compromise design. She's big, because I want 23 knots. She's awkward looking because fuck you. She doesn't have secondary turrets because cross deck fire doesn't allow it. She's expensive, very expensive, and big as hell. Hopefully, she'll do alright.

*********
Tensions with France are high, but when it comes to capital ship tonnage I easily beat them. I need some more light cruisers, so I commissioned a basic design for one. I also could use some more modern heavy cruisers, but right now I'd like to focus on other things - my battlecruisers fill the roles of heavy cruisers anyway, so I'm not too concerned.
It's a weakness with attaching photos on the farms. If you do a lot of them on a single page, the site gives up on loading them, especially if your connection isn't the best. Repeated refreshes show they still exist though.Huh, this is weird, it looks like the images are gone. Which is weird but the descriptions are done well enough that they aren’t really needed. Good work man! Kick the Cheese Monkeys ass.
