The Schwaben is a short range battleship - which is fine with the starting situation that Germany has. She's got a good amount of secondary and OK armor - nothing spectacular, but 8.5 inches isn't shabby at all.

The Victoria Louise class is a little lightly armored for an armored cruiser, but she's not too expensive and has colonial service - important. I'll take at least one to put into Northeast Asia.

Similarly, the Gefion class is outfitted for colonial service, and will do well as a raiding CL. 23 knots is a good speed early game - fast enough to escape armored cruisers.

Meanwhile this ugly little bastard will be my main destroyer leader. She's got 22 knots, six inch guns (to bully light ships), and a few 3 inch secondaries just for a little more firepower. She's also not that expensive either. My destroyers are the standard 27 knot, 2 3 inch and 4 2 inch gun designs, with short range.

There's a new update for Rule the Waves II, and honestly I've done as much as I can with this save. The aircraft carrier restrictions really hampered me. In 1946, I'm calling it good. I had to deal with a ton of bullshit in terms of tech, and I do mean real bullshit. Treaties and tech both royally fucked over my plans long term. If I do a small nation again, I'm doing game budget, just to make things more interesting.

Try Battlestations Midway/Pacific; it’s similar to Atlantic Fleet. From the same developers as Atlantic Fleet I highly recommend Cold Waters. Its a spiritual successor to the classic PC game Red Storm Rising, and has some very good moments. In a similar vein, Silent Hunter 3 and 4 are both good WWII submarine games. Wolfpack is still in alpha but if you’ve got friends willing to try it with you I would pick it up. It’s very immersive.

For the more autistic and varied simulations, I’d look at Command: Modern Air and Naval Operations. You can likely pick it up this summer for cheap during the steam sale. It’s essentially Harpoon on steroids. Want a detailed list of available Soviet interceptors along with performance data and weaponry used? What about the hypothetical Super Tomcat? It’s all in there, along with a smorgasbord of other creations, and a lot of community scenarios. Otherwise, buy the Northern Inferno campaign pack - it’s stand alone from the game and offers 13 missions focused around a hypothetical Cold War gone hot in 1975. It’s really interesting to see that capability gap between the Soviets of that era and NATO, when it comes to Soviet anti-ship missiles, and NATO anti-missile capabilities.

CMANO is one of those games I wish I could get into, but I really don't have the patience to embrace the autism. I played Battlestations Pacific a long time ago, maybe it's time for another run to get that tactical Pacific itch taken care of.

Tensions with France are high, but when it comes to capital ship tonnage I easily beat them. I need some more light cruisers, so I commissioned a basic design for one. I also could use some more modern heavy cruisers, but right now I'd like to focus on other things - my battlecruisers fill the roles of heavy cruisers anyway, so I'm not too concerned.

With Japan, you had dick to call for Torp protection and I think you at best had 14 inchers thanks to the Brits at this time too. Actually, you didn't even really have that I think, since you had that decade long BS war. I mean, barring getting Y turrets and something like double or triple mounts, your blueprint pattern's mostly ready. Also nice, Zeppelins! Hope you make a not shit carrier for Pacific use when you get the techs.

I need B mounts. Crossdeck Fire lets me simulate that to a degree, but it isn’t a perfect fix. What I really want is all or nothing armor - without it my designs are going to be heavier and slower.

This is going to be one hell of a battlecruiser for quite a few years. 11 inch guns, good speed and armor, and deck armor that'll keep her relevant for at least the next five years. She'll be expensive as hell though.

This isn't also the greatest of battleship designs, but she's got 5 11 inch turrets, a foot of armor, 22 knot speed, and an OK secondary battery. She's got torpedo defense, and critically, medium range as well. I can send her around to various locations, something important in my mind, if I have to fight a war with either Italy, or god forbid Japan in the future.

British battleships aren't too much different, though they switched around armor for armament. They're also smaller, thus cheaper. They can have more of them, which could be a problem in future.

The redesign is going to be costly, it's pretty much an entirely new ship. I drop a knot of speed and some secondaries, some ammunition, and some armor on the secondaries. Her weight also balloons by 3000 tons. But, I think she'll work as a first generation dreadnought.

She's a little awkward. I've only got quality -1 14 inch guns, and a limited weight budget. Her short range will be a problem later on, but 23 knots isn't bad, and neither are 10 14 inch guns.

This is the epitome of a compromise design. She's big, because I want 23 knots. She's awkward looking because fuck you. She doesn't have secondary turrets because cross deck fire doesn't allow it. She's expensive, very expensive, and big as hell. Hopefully, she'll do alright.

Tensions with France are high, but when it comes to capital ship tonnage I easily beat them. I need some more light cruisers, so I commissioned a basic design for one. I also could use some more modern heavy cruisers, but right now I'd like to focus on other things - my battlecruisers fill the roles of heavy cruisers anyway, so I'm not too concerned.

It's a weakness with attaching photos on the farms. If you do a lot of them on a single page, the site gives up on loading them, especially if your connection isn't the best. Repeated refreshes show they still exist though.
