I hope they show off the 3d models, there's some serious jank in those and they look awful up close.

Those were made from scratch by VRoid. Besides the Cinder model, which was a fan made MMD, according to Aden Blitz's clip on Twitter. People may think this is just a continuation of "RWBY artist rips off MMD", but since this is a fanmade project anyways ... it might not be comparable even if the OG RWBY models by RT were truly MMD recolors.

And it's moot since Monty has been six feet under for 7 years now, so there's no way to prove, let alone trace that accusation back to him. Most of the cast has been re-modeled from scratch in Maya anyways.

Touche, but I was referring to originality (whether or not they were ripoffs), not necessarily quality (how the topology of the models look, from triangles and squares that form the shape). The overwhelming majority of the models may be shoddy, but they were modelled from scratch.

P.S. Avoid triangles and diagonal lines on models when making movies. They cause wrinkles when you shine a light on them. You could see it on the Weiss port during the slow mo section of Tommy Lau's edgefest "Angel" trailer. Use squares instead and tilt them at certain angles when forming bumps and curves.

Here's a million dollar answer. Most of the dedicated main char designs are finalized and approved by Erica/Monarch, as well as Celtic himself. YMMV if this implies that the overwhelming majority of the input/ideas are designed by these two, with most external output being potentially rejected even if they're allowed to submit.

I've seen work by Sun Plank for Salem that was rejected in favor of the Starving Shakira version by Erica. And a bazillion others.

Nora :
Outfit is decent but it doesn't really fit with Nora's character; that of the boisterous and cheerful member of team JNPR. in fact, it's pretty generic and that's about it. I would've even opted to just improve upon her previous v1 outfit and it would've been better and more fitting for her. Also her hairstyle just borders to teen porn territory... is this yet another one of CelticPhoenix's ?

Weiss:
Fuck did they do to her design? Are the sketchy huntsmen going for the discount Elsa look? Also, what the fuck is with that ugly ass choker? How hard of a concept is Weiss in terms of design? Elegance, Beauty, and White, non of them are present right now. This a massive FAIL in every sense of the word in design.

Yang:
I thought it impossible but somehow they managed to take the v5 design and make it even more bland . Also, really classy of the guy to post that close-up shot towards the poor excuse of a pair of tits. Remember kids, boobies don't look like that and your annie-mays had already picked up on it and started drawing them ala tear-drops instead of bowling balls. The crew deserves another from me just for that ""titty"" shot alone.

Never seen a man go from 'A Clockwork Orange' down to Hot topic in my life before. Poor Torchwick, I don't even need to explain on how many levels they fucked him up at this point, it's so painfully obvious.

Don't gloss over the fact that her "boots" are just textures over ankle length shoes and her lower legs. They couldn't even model boots just like they couldn't model a chain or shotgun shells.

Also, one of Floof's go-tos for comparison is to say the hair rigs and faces look better. Look, I'm not saying the RWBY models look great, but they are made by professionals. There are a lot of talented, hardworking people who work for RT that are at the whims of horrendous management. I don't even think Floof did these models, I've only ever seen him do 2D animation. The main modeler was a guy named JayJay who is a pretty cool guy actually.

Going a bit back to the posts calling Raymond a nonce, I don't think that's the case. As I've said before, he's just really socially inept. A lot of stuff he says and does is the result of either him trying to say something charismatic and failing horribly, or him making bad decisions of who to listen to. For example, when he was hesitant about kicking the admitted pedophile from the server, he was listening to Dashie Li over the other mods, because Dashie is his friend. The onsen episode was suggested by someone else as well, though I'm sure he was very thrilled about the idea.
