But then, the “Environmental Protection Unit” from the North American and European countries that had been falling behind in the competition raised an objection. They claimed that due to the great many species of animals and plants and the effect on the world’s environment, developing the Amazon would be tantamount to a great sin against the planet itself.
At the same time, the former great powers of the B3W era had completely ignored their own environments and engaged in reckless development in the name of recovery. Therefore, public opinion in the South American countries boiled over in opposition.
Eventually, the scarce and vast underground Spirit Fields were discovered, LATO was formed, and opposing forces could no longer say anything in objection. Even so, many citizens of South America continued to hold a grudge about being blocked from developing the Amazon.

To be fair, Toujirou was always a weird dude, even in Phase 1.
Gou was pretty trash tbh. No Idea why the sudden push for Rika and Satoko to be MCs.
Was literally 20 minutes of some smug bitch ASMR every episode and nothing happening until the last 2 minutes of each episode and then the Preview of the next one and quickly devolved into an umineko fanfiction at the end of the season. It should at least have had some of the actual horror the series is known for.
Would recommend the Original older anime and kai over this chubby art styled crap. Things actually happen before the 20 minute mark every episode and are actually scary and unnerving in those earlier renditions of higurashi.

I just tried watching Gou, and it really has lost a lot of the charm that the sound novels and OG anime had.
What I don’t get is the sudden push for Satoko to become a looper who just straight up leaves Satoshi in the dust. That just feels completely out of character for her.

Satoko was really out of character to her brother and was also not that obsessed over Rika in the sound novels and OG anime.
There was also no real way for Satoko to even be dragged into looping even by accident. They really pulled a Deus ex machina and just placed her in front of a character who really wasnt in higurashi to begin with.
Hence the entire thing coming off as forced Umineko fanfiction.

Nope, but its got more shit going down and even has some of the outbreak goddesses in the place of Hanyuu. with actual new characters as well. Has about as much if not more VN than the actual VNs so far.
I was in the same boat, I was spoiled after episode 2. It's really not a big deal, the main thing is the atmosphere and characters, you won't get the mystery elements out of it, but the story still has some great moments and you will be less pissed with the ending.

So they made a new series just to make Lambdadelta into Satoko even though all evidence pointed towards Lambdadelta being Miyo. Great, fantastic.
