It started as a one time joke back during the chrisposting days, before evolving into another vgcw type show but with when they cry characters with the main character in all the shows being battler.
I was wondering if a second season was going to be a thing, but Gou honestly doesn't deserve more time dedicated to it. It had its chance. Had it skipped over the pointless recaps the first 13 episodes, it'd have had all the time in the world, dead serious. And it would've never brought up the stupid "newcomer-friendly" bullshit.
In Japan, a season is something like 12 episodes average but it's not comparable to how a season works in American TV. It could be something like Jojo's Diamond is Unbreakable arc where it was 36 episodes (about three seasons), which sounds like a reasonable amount since I can't imagine another 24 episodes is needed to wrap up Rika's and Satoko's drama.
I've noticed some Umineko volumes were suddenly unavailable when I was finishing up buying them last year/2019. I don't know why they're suddenly not in print or what, but it was honestly a pain in the ass to get volume 13 (first volume of Episode 6).

If I remember correctly, people were upset because their theory was wrong or no deus ex machina happy ending like in Higurashi which I suppose is fine. I also remembered the double suicide was really heartrending with the music not helping.
Naw, I was mostly pissed Ryukishi went with the Tumblr ending for the culprit. Umineko's not a story that was ever going to have a happy ending.
Nah, people were pissed that the entirety of episode 8 is ryukishi calling everyone who didnt put up with his shit a goat and the ending being essencially a fuck you (until the manga released and properly concluded the story)
It's funny how you can tell people who were reading Umineko as it was being released vs. people who came in later, after everything was done. There's a lot of community bullshit that the latter group missed. I don't know that most people are put off by the ending itself, it's just a typical bittersweet ending that the Japanese love, it was more how he ended it, the Metaverse bullshit, the whole situation around the culprit, refusing to show his hand, since he'd actually have to explain how the culprit did everything, and I think his saltiness over his insistence that you could figure it all out by the end of Chapter 4, while most people didn't figure anything right until he explicitly put it out there. And even then, the only people who did get it right where the Fujos on Tumblr, not through logic, but because they wanted to canonize butt fucking. The reaction to the culprit reveal was more "that's stupid and here the logic problems with it," then anything else. It's what you get when you court an audience that enjoys logic problems.

Yeah, but it's so fucking stupid. This is a solution to a problem no one had. The implication of Higurashi being a game between Bern and Lambda with Rika and Takano as their pieces is implied a bit in Umineko. That doesn't need to be changed. Is he going to go back and change all of Lambda's artwork to make her look more like Satoko? If he tweaks that, doesn't it make the suggestion that he similarly retconned in Shkanon and Yasu as a boy for degenerate asspats more believable? I mean, are either of those things necessary for Umineko to function? Wasn't part of the point of the manga and his later writings to smooth over the problems caused by those things?
