Can't wait to see the wokesters screech and cancel R07 after glomming onto him over Sayo totally being #TransRights
No, they're going to keep sucking his dick just because he's R07. Honestly don't know what it'll take for them to turn on him outside of not getting the lesbian ship they want (which they most likely will).

Idk. I can totally see people getting their panties in a twist because "omg Ryukishi is invalidating abuse victims!!! Wtf he was a social worker?!? #BelieveAllWomen"

yeah, that's what I drew from it. She killed herself in front of multiple alternate Rikas then just decided to follow one.

Never seemed to bother Rika much that every version of her friends is technically a parallel universe clone, though.
I think they just forgot their own rules regarding it being alternate dimensions because the whole idea was that there are infinite Rikas who never jumped dimensions and will not understand what the fuck Satoko is about.

I think he's trying to justify his sadistic yuri ship by nuking Satoko and Rika's relationship into orbit.
Gou has reminded me why I hate gays and coomers. I am seeing both rejoice that a friendship is now a lesbian relationship between preteens. I hate these people.

Nah, people were pissed that the entirety of episode 8 is ryukishi calling everyone who didnt put up with his shit a goat and the ending being essencially a fuck you (until the manga released and properly concluded the story)
Ok thanks for buying and supporting my murder mystery, now let me tell you why enjoying murder mysteries is a bad thing. I am fine with him dealing with invasion of privacy as a topic, but the fact he denied an answer is BS. I also despise the answer just because it relies so heavily on other people being retarded.
Even in the manga he then explains things, and said explanations violate various rules (Liek Van Dine's) even though he literally included shit like Will and Dlanor.

Ep 6 is my favourite episode, but I also think it's the part that jumped the shark. He kinda wrote himself into a corner with the ending, and even then it could have worked, but ep 7 and 8 leaned so heavily into the meta and the theory. The worst thing was Ange though. Her arc just felt worthless, I mean ok she changed. But it was how she changed and what she became that made it worthless.
Why can't she just deny all the truth from the start? That was her final goal/arc, and she didn't need to go through all she did to reach that.

What does Ryukishi have against Satoko, anyway? I thought she was super important in pushing the message of better child welfare since he was a social worker?

Then again, Gou no longer gives a shit about the messages learned in Higurashi since it's thrown them all out the window and off a cliff.
At this point I think I can write off anything outside of the 8 arcs in Higurrashi and the 8 in Umineko. I think I will wait on getting into the new sci fi series, because holy shit the writing is not going in a direction I like.

I need those time travel powers so I can save BT from dying.

Edit: Shit, I realize in hindsight this doesn't make Teppei look good, it makes Satoko look worse. Like, I could buy a Teppei redemption arc but not like this.
I know there was a noticable decline after he died (episode 6), but I have to wonder just how much of a role he played in the process, because there is a noticable difference in quality.

Umineko manga has an actual ending with tohya and ange
The VN just ends with ange and juuza fucking off into the sunset while ryukishi laughs at the retards who actually cared about the mistery
The Umineko VN has both of those two endings. Even then, the trick ending ends with Ange killing Juuza and Kawabata so that isn't even true.

It doesnt have ange meeting tohya iirc, it just has the halloween party but it has been a while since ive read episode 8
It does though. In the Magic ending, we cut to Ange decades later, now named Yukari Kotobuki, meeting Tohya (Battler) and Ikuko and it ends exactly the same way as the manga. The Halloween Party you're referring to is the one at the start of EP8.

The live broadcast has just finished.

Gou is over. Higurashi Sotsu starts in 4 months.
Knew it. If we actually get decent answers and a decent ending, I won't call Gou a masterpiece or anything, but I could be pursuaded to revoke my non canon judgement.

Edit: I'm gonna be pissed if Shion and Satoshi never really enter the picture

I agree. Just for the love of christ, don't do any more retreads of the original Higurashi goddammit. Even the last episode of Gou does it here, retracing Takano's backstory from Matsuribayashi, it just seems pointless to do this much retreading for a sequel series.

Also does anyone else find it funny that instead of Satoko just viewing the fragment where Takano puts in the code for the suitcase, she brute forces it and loops every single time she fucks up the combination. I know Satoko is kind of stupid, but jesus man.

Seriously, they wasted half of the season with pointless retreads. There was no reason to do that when this is the kind of series that needs all the time in the world plus actual talent to pull off. What a joke, what a disaster.

Also this is what "Sotsu" means, which honestly sounds lame. At least the "karma" label had actual relation to Higurashi's themes, calling Rika a "noble" is just stretching it.

It could also be in the sense of "moving on" as that was the whole theme of this crappy rehash. "noble" is a bit of a stretch, but she is Oyashiro sama's priestess and reincarnation, so...

I'm still pissed at the timeline fuckery. Was the first couple episodes "our" Rika and that's why Satoko lost it with Teppei? (approx ep 7)? Was Satoko just trying to con Rika? Was it Looper Satoko who gutted Rika, or just an alternate world version? Was she faking it? I'm like 99% certain "loopers" can't even get Hinamizawa Syndrome, since they debunked Takano Hifumi's "brain parasite queen carrier" thing as bullshit, which means other than the ability to create an antidote there's nothing special about Rika and the only time Rika's come close is when she had that bad reaction in Shion's basement.

Watch it be some handwave like "it was anachronistic order this whole time!"

Eh, overall I'd give this a 7/10. Interesting but a bit of a wtf. I'd think I'd rather have an actual remake or just a slice of life series. Speaking of which, I can't believe I didn't realize that the default Windows 10 lock screen is irl Hinamizawa in Winter.

If she's not going to use her powers to study, she could have used it to cheat on her tests. Come on now.

Somebody mentioned apparently both Teppei and Takano had nightmares/visions of past OG loops like Keiichi and the others in Minagoroshi and Maysuribayashi. Did I miss this? Also, someone posted this on Reddit. Thoughts?

I'm glad I never got into this. It sounds like a retarded massive clusterfuck, since I haven't read any of his other works so it wouldn't make any fucking sense. That and the original is a completed story. Not to mention I'm not wasting time watching old retreads for dumb bullshit.

Teppei went through his vision of the past at the start of Episode 23 and Takano had hers at the start of Episode 24. As for the excerpt of the VN, people on /a/ and /jp/ have been speculating that Gou/Sotsu would try and give those two happy endings since the twist was revealed in Episode 2.

Since Onidamashi-hen, people have also been speculating about the time and I remember people constantly bringing up the number "24" since it showed up in every episode up until Nekodamashi. I'm sure it's just a schizo theory now based on the 2nd half of the series but it's something to think about. People have also noticed some discrepancies with the calendar in every arc but I haven't looked into it as much. My take on the whole timeline fuckery is that it's all straightforward until Satakowashi, which is before all of the events of Gou.

Also yeah, I believe Satoko was faking it when she was gutting Rika due to how composed she was during that whole sequence.

Ryukishi did not foreshadow Gou and Sotsu almost 20 years ago. It's just a huge coincidence or he was desperate for ideas and looked back through his notes, saw a couple of kanji he just so happened to have used, and believed he reached the Golden Land.

Also him stating that everyone should talk to someone to make a miracle ending happen has been BTFO'd in Gou because Satoko refused to accept Rika's out-stretched hand multiple times and blamed her for why she had a shitty school life. Ryukishi doesn't remember his own goddamn rules.
