Yeah. I have little to no interest in something where its basically connected to hundreds of hours of other shit. Its basically, "Please buy my other shit to figure out what's happening!" And I'm pretty much "lol no". I'm pretty spiteful when it comes to dumbshit like this, and the new Gou seems like a cash grab with retreading the same ground, wasting my fucking time and then forcing me to either read wikis or play through fucking VNs. Sorry, no matter how good the VN is I'm not doing it for one fucking anime. I'd rather play through Muv-Luv again (*CRUNCH*) than this convulted shit which has weebs posting garbage of the equivalent of the ring theory for the Star Wars prequels.

Read the first Umineko book and that was it for me. The idea of a variety of repetitions of the initial concert, no matter how 'meta', just didn't appeal to me.

So does that mean you don't even know about the character in your avatar? Because Erika is a fun character with some great moments.
You're lucky you got out when you did. I enjoyed the mystery stuff early on, but by the end of the story the meta takes over everything and they say the mystery doesn't matter. I still enjoyed Umineko overall, but it was more for atmosphere and a few specific moments. If it never went past episode 6 it would be fantastic.

To be fair Higurashi didn't need anything outside of the first 8 arcs that tied everything up. Now there are fuck tons of variations of Higurashi, so he has been milking the franchise for ages. Which is jsut depressing tbh. You also don't want to link the franchises, I have read both and I fucking despise any attempt to link Satoko with Lambda.
Satoko and Rika = Best friends, innocent and wholesome relationship.
Lambdadelta and Bernkastel = Sadomasochistic/outright abusive lesbian relationship.

Only SJWs, shippers and coomers think turning Rika and Satoko's relationship from friendship to "dey gay lovers" is a good thing. I'm so fucking sick of friendships/camaraderie being turned into sexual/romantic shit, especially when Rika and Satoko are what, 12? Oh no I just googled it, Satoko is 11.
Thankfully R07 used Umineko to teach us that the truth doesn't matter and we should ignore it if we dislike it.

Erika is a sadistic autist who only feels satisfaction from bullying people. She identifies as "an intellectual rapist" and breaks Maria's heart by deconstructing magic and calling her a retard for thinking witches were real (Reminder that Erika is 18 and Maria is an autistic 9 year old). She goes on to behead several members of the family just to win an argument with Battler so she can lock his soul in a room, marry him and then rape him to cuck Beatrice.

The issue isn't just the tumblr bullshit. The theory just fails when you realise Jessica was Shannon's best friend and was very interested in Kanon. The argument "no one pays attention to the servants" goes out the window unless Jessica was an accomplice or just retarded, honestly George should have noticed too given he was marrying Shannon. But my main issue isn't so much the culprit. It's him saying nothing mattered, then leaning into the meta to sidestep the mystery, while patching the mystery with shit that breaks his own rules.
Allthough I have grown to hate Shkanontrice as the troons continue to latch on to the series. Kinda funny how they miss the point about how you can't pretend to be something you aren't.

Shkanontrice really is a thing that the more you have to think about it, the more you come to hate the whole concept. It's like you start trying to sort it out logically and end up logical spiraling and realize that while it's technically possible, it requires everyone to go full retard to not see it. BoyYasu isn't quite as bad, it just doesn't add anything. It doesn't really contribute to Yasu's motivations. The test is just go back through everything but with Yasu as a girl. Does anything break? Do Genji's motivations about protecting Yasu from Kinzo make more sense if Yasu is a girl as opposed to a boy? Does anything at all change about Yasu's motivation? I honestly treated Lion and Will as "what if Yasu had been a boy," with the assumption Yasu was a girl. It doesn't really change anything.

Other that making Kinzo sound slightly less insane. Kinzo's not into dudes, what the fuck is Genji freaking out about if Yasu is a boy?

I've finished all the bonus content for Umineko and still dislike the whole Yasu/Shkanontrice subplot. It really doesn't add anything to the story, raises more questions than answers and is just frustrating to think about. Ryukishi definitely lost something when his friend passed away.

I’m on part 4 at the moment. It’s alright so far, but I do often find myself needing to take breaks in between chapters because I find them quite long.

Yeah, takes me about an hour to finish and save after a chapter, but as soon as I hit "Massacre", it was suddenly taking me about upwards of 90 minutes. Legit can't imagine how long each of Umineko's chapters get.

Umineko is fucking MASSIVE, I started it in 2015 and took a hiatus that was at least two or three years long. The Higurashi VNs are nothing in comparison.

Nah, not at all. I first watched a playthrough of the Higurashi VN long before I was able to play it for myself. I think it's interesting to get a blind reaction, I've been meaning to check her out.
