Yeah, it was super janky though.
And as far as the mods go oh man, you've missed out on so much. There are a metric ton of mods that give the games a lot of content(although the quality is sometimes questionable and they may lack translations). I'd recommend Lost Alpha when the Director's Cut edition comes out and Sigerous Mod(SGM) for CoP because it introduces a lot of new content like quests, features and so on. Valley of Whispers is also a good CoP mod that takes place in a completely new map. Although, I'd probably play with a more basic overhaul first then expand into the larger content mods.

That was kind of my experience too. I really like the game but MP I can do without.

I'll definitely start looking at STALKER again. Until I saw this thread I had completely forgot about it. It might be time to go back into the Zone again. Especially since this game won't make my computer cry blood trying to load some parts like it used to. lol

You can also ask me for some recommendations if you're looking for mods with a new story, polishing overhauls, A.I mods that sort of thing. Some mods require you to be on the latest version and some mods specifically require an older version of the game to run so that can get kind of annoying, especially if you're running the Steam version of the game.

I occasionally screw around with STALKER. Last week I installed SOC and Oblivion Lost and made it to the Cordon Garbage boundary and fought 11 or so soldiers while a couple of groups of loners spawned in and instantly died. So I loot the full squad of soldiers and drive back to the trader and come back to find another 10 soldiers. When I found more soldiers at the Duty barricade to the bar I decided that was enough STALKER for the day.
Maybe I'll try the faction war mod for Clear Sky

I'm surprised GSC is still together. Here's hoping it's a good one and doesn't suffer the problems of the first three (at least you can mod them though).

Edit: Yeah it was announced and scrapped before and GSC disbanded, my memory serves me surprisingly well. Good to see it's back.
