To whom? Are you embarrassed? If so, how is this a beacon of embarrassment to you and not the threads on the many cows who have a rabid cult following? Or the arguments that go on in Deep Thoughts? If this is about outside observers not familiar with the website's workings, why would they think it any more embarrassing than a thread in Deep Thoughts?

Or are you feeling embarrassed FOR them, and feel like we should be trying to protect them from themselves?

I'm mostly cool with things as they are. I mean, there are people getting salty in threads because they don't think it's worth a thread, but it's not like this sub-forum is the only place it happens. There's plenty of Lolcow threads that have people show up to shitpost and disrupt things because they don't think the person is a lolcow. Same basic thing.

Besides, I know DT has something of a reputation, but most of the threads there actually have content and aren't just retards getting angry at other retards in a thread about angry retards.

Admittedly, I don't really comprehend secondhand embarrassment. I can understand getting embarrassed on how what they're doing represents the community, but when there are way, way, way, way, way worse things on here that should be providing far more secondhand embarrassment, I don't really see why this is a big deal.

I believe this forum will work best with as little mettling as possible. I do want to encourage people to dig up more salt from outside the website, that much I'm sure of, but I'm not convinced that shuting down slapfights is going to grow the audience or lead to more fun.

Besides, I know DT has something of a reputation, but most of the threads there actually have content and not just exceptional individuals getting angry at other exceptional individuals in a thread about angry exceptional individuals.

Never said I did. I think most of them should be severely pruned back and/or more actual content found.

Reaction images are against the rules and get removed when I see them or when they're reported.

Trust me, you don't want in-fighting and slapfighting to be normalized and institutionalized in this community. People tend to hold their tongues to avoid threadbans and warning points. A lot of people will carry these grudges around the forum. The focus should be on encouraging more people to grab content because this forum should be the easiest to grab content for. With a lolcow its just one person and their set of tweets, timeline on FB, etc. Here, its keywords on a salient current event. While theoretically it should be esiest here, its been the most barren of content. Fix the content issue and everything else will straighten out if you keep the kids in line.
