I mean, with the exception of the Trump thread and a few others, most of the Salt threads are only meant to last a little while. Most of a subject's salt comes when the incident occurs(Like the aforementioned E3 threads). Eventually the salt dies down as new stuff comes up, the thread gets locked, and so on. Most salt threads aren't really meant to still be around a year from now, save for special cases.
you're probably right. the culture wars are just such a dominant concept here that i feel like a subforum for them might be a good idea, just to consolidate things, but it's probably unnecessary. tumblr/community watch more or less fills that role anyway.
i will say tho it would produce a truly legendary autism thunderdome were it to exist. spergatory would be full to bursting.

Cat raises an excellent point here, and more posts with content featuring especially hilarious sperg-outs would be a huge jump in the right direction.
In before someone has a giant sperg-out over this thread which, in turn, gets actual content posts.
If nothing else, I got high hopes for this thread giving us plans for a perpetual motion machine of autismal salt.
I have no problem with it and don't see how anything mentioned in this thread is any sort of problem. Shitty threads are a part of life.

That way whoever wants to read that almagamation of shit could do so of their own free will. Might also be cathartic in a way. It's kind of hard to advocate for free speech here if a user who doesn't agree with the general consensus of something doesn't get much of a voice before being rated negatively or threadbanned. I mean I can see why mods would do that since it would cause the disruption and derailment of a thread if two users start to pit it out on each other, and A-logs and other stupid comments, but there have been times I've seen a valid counter argument that was brought up and subjected to group think. And plus it might be fun having our own Jerry Springer on KF...
I don't know/care about the rest of the stuff though. I'm still a young kiwi, so I don't know much technical things about the farms. That's just my idea I wanted to shill out.

The only issue with the Salt Mine as a place to put threads that get too salty is that we tend to have to policy that getting angry over things is pointless. Do we not risk perfectly good threads being condemned to the mine because it's mere existence legitimises pointless sperging over minor shit?
Autism is autism, salt is salt, why would you complain about where it comes from unless you're the one supplying it

I can see the problem but I bet any change and attempt to moderate more would stand a good chance of fucking things up more. Maybe if you want to sperg in the thread you have to at least post salt in the post somewhere- a two-drink minimum sort of idea.

Sounds like a bad idea. Often when you try to make a containment zone for stuff you don't want on your other boards it instead becomes a breeding ground and quickly infects the other forums. Something Awful is a good/bad example for that. People would just develop grudges in the slapfight zone and carry them over into other forums and by the time it becomes an actual problem the infestion sits so deep that you can't just close the breeding ground and expect everything to go back to normal.
