Thought it'd be cool if we had a thread in anticipation for the new season coming up in a few weeks.

Are you guys optimistic? Skeptical? What are you hoping for in the new season?

I've been binge watching the series for the first time in preparation for the new season. I have seen some episodes here and there before, but never the entire show. I'm really enjoying it so far, I just wish I knew of a better place to watch it, Kisscartoon only has it in 360p.

There's a sense of wonder and excitement within me that I think is the result of my inner child, little nine-year-old Johnny, awakening from the pit I buried them in long ago and clawing their way to the surface through layers and layers of cynicism and apathy.

Even if Mako is no longer the voice of Aku, this is still the same samurai, same journey, same art I fell in love with as a kid. Even with the slightly 'edgier' tones to it from it being on Adult Swim, it's still the same as it was 13 years ago, and it is wonderful. It's like coming home.

I think this new series does a good job of capturing the feel of the old. Really looking forward to seeing how this all plays out. I was really skeptical at first when I learned that Jack would be using guns and riding a motorcycle, but the trailer really won me over. First episode was great, and it's nice that Tartakovsky is helming it himself instead of letting some dumbshits fuck it up (e.g. Powerpuff Girls).

I'm struggling not to sperg here, I really am, but I'm not exaggerating in the slightest when I say I was more hyped for this than Star Wars: The Pandering Awakens, and that in one episode it has already surpassed both said mediocre remake and ALL of my expectations. From the animation to the soundtrack to the story to the tonal shift, this IS Samurai Jack, tastefully upgraded to a more mature audience while not once stumbling into forced edginess and sucessfully taking ME back to 2004, where this series would have aired were it part of the original production.

I'm not crying, I just have something in both eyes at the same time...

Also is it just me, or does the pilot episode have a Mad Max-esque feel to it?

You weren't the only one. I felt the whole "lone savior figure going crazy from guilt" was almost textbook Mad Max. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you, if anything I'm excited to see where Tartakovsky takes that.

I'm pretty sure the Demonic Green Warrior tormenting Jack is Aku. Mostly because of how Jack's father had the fiery eyebrows Aku has.
