Santana IV -

After more than 15 years of milking it, Carlos Santana has finally dropped the celebrity guest singer formula in favor of reuniting (most of) the classic lineup of Gregg Rolie (keys and lead vocals), Neal Schon (co-lead guitar), Michael Shrieve (drums), and Michael Carabello (congas). The only no-shows are bassist David Brown (RIP) and timbales player Jose "Chepito" Areas, with both being filled in by current band members Benny Rietveld and Karl Perazzo respectively. Ronald Isley even shows up for guest vocals on a couple of tracks.

Judging by the three singles, this is quite possibly Santana's best record in a long time and it opens the door to not only a return to Santana's jazz fusion era, but possibly a return with singer Alex Ligertwood as well.
