Relatedly, Nyberg was also the one who wound Chloe Sagal up via blaming Gamergate for Sagal's problems, only for Sagal to go off the reservation and need to be reined in.
3. Nyberg's done multiple articles for various publications involved with the Quinn cover-up. This included a number of articles for various companies either directly or indirectly involved with the Gamers Are Over incident.
4. Similarly, he was an acquaintance of Quinn's before Gamergate ever started. He has multiple associates in both the indie gaming press and indie gaming development circuit.
5. He's supported Trans Lifeline. The fact that Nyberg has ties to numerous troons should go without saying, but before GG ever happened, you could constantly find him skirmishing in the comments sections of various Youtube videos trollshielding various troons like Zinnia Jones while screaming about evil TERFs. He accomplished this by pandering to preconceived notions his own side had and using edited/out-of-context screenshots (periodically using content uploaded by her associates performing false-flags for her to report on, because this thing is SOP in Anti-GG circles) and basically was their go-to source to justify their own idiocy. Need evidence to claim GG is harassment? Nyberg has hundreds of image macros that he claims support this. Need evidence to claim GG is filled with monsters? Nyberg's got out-of-context-screenshots. Need to just randomly insult GG supporters because your own side has deemed them sub-human vermin? Nyberg will help you justify your hatred.

When Nyberg got nailed by his own indiscretions, shit got real. Anti-GG couldn't ignore a pedophilia scandal of this magnitude once GG got a hold of it - not with this level of evidence backing it up. CON decided this was a perfect test for a dry run of their various anti-harassment systems: moreover Nyberg was an innocent transperson and he'd been totally deadnamed, you guys! With someone so important to their operations, surely they could do something as shut down discussion of Nyberg's long and glorious history of pedophilia given how much influence they already had, right?

The evidence de-listing got caught (well-done, Izzy), as did their shutting down Encyclopedia Dramatica and @le0pirat3's respective Twitter accounts (lol). By this point the Streisand Effect kicked in, even more people paid attention, and then Breitbart covered it, and Nyberg's own family gave testimony against Nyberg himself.

Nyberg denied everything, but it was too late: The damage done to Nyberg's credibility was done. Anyone who got hit with bitching from Nyberg or one of his articles or memes from this point onwards could just respond with "lol, pedophilia" and be done with it. While Nyberg would continue to deny wrongdoing in the fashion he is accustomed, it stopped working, and with that one of the big unifiers of their group began to wane in influence. In fact, one of the best examples of the sheer, unadulterated pettiness of Nyberg and his backers can be found in the Trello Log Leaks.

In the leaks, alongside Encyclopedia Dramatica, 8chan, "assholes," and "doxers" they intended to demonetize and otherwise "deal with," there is a rather... Anomalous entry.

This entry was apparently so important that they got their own fucking subsection devoted to them:

This user was listed as "proactively harassing trans users, including previous cases for Crash Override concern." It encourages the others to "Please take all possible action to have it closed down for good." While I've yet to confirm who the fuck "Knife Horse" is (my current hypothesis is that it's Thomas Riley Peeples, and I doubt we'll ever know for sure), what is known is that they did a ton of work for CON's Trello, adding various shit against GG spergs like Cernovich and Roguestar - so there's no question that it was, at least, someone in the clique, and someone connected enough to have access to the clique's "Enemies List."

More canny Kiwis may actually remember GenderCoping: they're one of the users who told Greta to stop fucking exploiting the death of Elizabeth Waite after TLL failed her so spectacularly. Anyone who can blatantly tell TLL to fuck off knowing what Greta's willing to pull in response deserves at least some kind of credit. So needless to say, when I found this during the thread, I immediately contacted them and asked if they'd be willing to share their story on what happened. What they told me wasn't exactly much: Only that they'd gotten repeatedly harassed by CON users and orbiters, including SFtheWolf, FakeRobotGamer, and of course, Nyberg himself, who kept attacking GenderCoping with CON backup for fucking weeks.

So what was Gendercoping's crime? Pointing out that trans women shouldn't speak over actual women in regards to biological women's issues. Speaking as a fucking Trans Woman. By all evidence provided, Gender Coping had encountered the clique only one previous times, which was equally as much a fucking non issue: Pointing out that for being all supportive of LGBT people, CON's orbiters seem to have a fucking awful lot of heterosexual men claiming to be women to access lesbians' spaces. You can see Rob "Sexually harassed 17 people while working for CON" Marmlejo in that particular tweetchain. That one didn't come up in the Trello logs at all though.

Less than four hours after making that one fucking post criticizing Nyberg, Knife Horse added GenderCoping to a unique spot on CON's Enemies List, establishing that GenderCoping was someone to be confronted and deplatformed - as they'd put it, "shut them down for good" - Solely because they were a transperson who disagreed with Nyberg's fucking narrative. As covered in the link above, Nyberg continued to go after GenderCoping for nearly a month afterwards. This was true of several other CON supporters and Nyberg's orbiters, one of whom proceeded to go after GenderCoping for fucking years afterwards.

To make a half-paraphrase of Jaimas' initial wall of text: Nyberg was well-known in anti-GG circles at the time, and had cultivated a personality that was completely inoffensive to them. Unlike a lot of other anti-GG cows, who inevitably had some moment where they let a little too much slip, Nyberg was the perfect token trans woman ally 100% of the time. He did "good work" (read: obsessively collecting GG-related content for people to get mad over), never had the wrong opinions, and when things went wrong, he'd cry like a sad little girl who needed big, strong men to protect him. The former users of FFshrine - pretty much the only non-GG people online associated with him - got burned out on him playing that act while being an open pedophile and gross unwashed dude, so he learned from that, cleaned himself up and started leaning into online communities that protected people with GOTIS.

And so that's how things worked out. A lot of people don't weather the storm of being outed as a pedophile, to say the least, but he managed to do it. He was savvy enough to minimize the nonpartisan people he was associated with, not actively anger people from his own side, and twist the facts so anyone who did a cursory reading of the Breitbart article would remain sympathetic to him. The tradeoff is that if he ever wants to expand his online or real life presence beyond anti-GG, he's fucked - but that doesn't matter. He was already a fuckup loser, pretending to be a cute desirable girl on the internet to feel like less of one is all he wants.

Milo is a good counterexample here, actually. He was a grifter who relied on partisan politics himself, and he managed to get away with a lot of dumb bullshit because he and his supporters could always play the "triggered liberals" card. What he didn't realize was that cultivating a deliberately offensive personality made him quite a few conservative enemies as well, and that's how he eventually got struck down by pedo accusations - he had pissed off people with clout and had no built-in cultural defense to hide behind anymore.

Do you know what anarchist communities have in common with one another when they get set up? A few have, over the years - most are either resource-free hellholes or communes full of idiots that look like they escaped from a Fallout game. But there's a few commonalities between the ones that survive any length of time.

First of all, many of these communities wind up loaded with people who, surely by coincidence, are welfare and SSDI leeches.

Second, because of zero police presence, they become havens for wastrels and derelicts, and ergo, hotbeds where everyone has to defend themselves and might makes right, so criminals constantly show up. There are no ramifications for any wrongdoing, no protections for basic human rights or property, and no redress for someone stealing from your ass. Every single person needs to own a gun, and know how to use it. Fences need to surround any property worth a damn to keep out intruders.

There is no meaningful consequences for wrongdoing beyond retaliation from those you've wronged and you're perfectly allowed to defend yourself against that since there's no rules. Someone burns down your junk fort because they feel like it? Fuck you, your problem, asshole. You either defend yourself, take retribution on them, or rally the community and hope they do something about it.

Humanity as a whole is awesome, but one reason we've survived as well as we have is the ability to beat order out of chaos and discipline out of turmoil. Without a basic codification of rules and the ability to enforce them, everyone suffers.

This is a really good point. Anarchism/Libertarianism, the idea that people can freely live among each other without any government entity "oppressing" them, is a fairy tale. All political ideologies are authoritarian by nature, and if an authoritarian presence doesn't already exist then one will eventually form. If you put together an anarchist/libertarian society where everyone works toward a common goal and the society winds up working, eventually some jerk is gonna say "this is mine" or "i think things would be run better if we organized a central government", and it would be authoritarian to challenge them.

Modern industry, with its big factories and mills, where hundreds of workers supervise complicated machines driven by steam, has superseded the small workshops of the separate producers; the carriages and wagons of the highways have become substituted by railway trains, just as the small schooners and sailing feluccas have been by steam-boats. Even agriculture falls increasingly under the dominion of the machine and of steam, which slowly but relentlessly put in the place of the small proprietors big capitalists, who with the aid of hired workers cultivate vast stretches of land.

Everywhere combined action, the complication of processes dependent upon each other, displaces independent action by individuals. But whoever mentions combined action speaks of organisation; now, is it possible to have organisation without authority?

Supposing a social revolution dethroned the capitalists, who now exercise their authority over the production and circulation of wealth. Supposing, to adopt entirely the point of view of the anti-authoritarians, that the land and the instruments of labour had become the collective property of the workers who use them. Will authority have disappeared, or will it only have changed its form? Let us see.

Let us take by way if example a cotton spinning mill. The cotton must pass through at least six successive operations before it is reduced to the state of thread, and these operations take place for the most part in different rooms. Furthermore, keeping the machines going requires an engineer to look after the steam engine, mechanics to make the current repairs, and many other labourers whose business it is to transfer the products from one room to another, and so forth. All these workers, men, women and children, are obliged to begin and finish their work at the hours fixed by the authority of the steam, which cares nothing for individual autonomy. The workers must, therefore, first come to an understanding on the hours of work; and these hours, once they are fixed, must be observed by all, without any exception. Thereafter particular questions arise in each room and at every moment concerning the mode of production, distribution of material, etc., which must be settled by decision of a delegate placed at the head of each branch of labour or, if possible, by a majority vote, the will of the single individual will always have to subordinate itself, which means that questions are settled in an authoritarian way. The automatic machinery of the big factory is much more despotic than the small capitalists who employ workers ever have been. At least with regard to the hours of work one may write upon the portals of these factories: Lasciate ogni autonomia, voi che entrate! [Leave, ye that enter in, all autonomy behind!]

If man, by dint of his knowledge and inventive genius, has subdued the forces of nature, the latter avenge themselves upon him by subjecting him, in so far as he employs them, to a veritable despotism independent of all social organisation. Wanting to abolish authority in large-scale industry is tantamount to wanting to abolish industry itself, to destroy the power loom in order to return to the spinning wheel.

Let us take another example — the railway. Here too the co-operation of an infinite number of individuals is absolutely necessary, and this co-operation must be practised during precisely fixed hours so that no accidents may happen. Here, too, the first condition of the job is a dominant will that settles all subordinate questions, whether this will is represented by a single delegate or a committee charged with the execution of the resolutions of the majority of persona interested. In either case there is a very pronounced authority. Moreover, what would happen to the first train dispatched if the authority of the railway employees over the Hon. passengers were abolished?

But the necessity of authority, and of imperious authority at that, will nowhere be found more evident than on board a ship on the high seas. There, in time of danger, the lives of all depend on the instantaneous and absolute obedience of all to the will of one.

When I submitted arguments like these to the most rabid anti-authoritarians, the only answer they were able to give me was the following: Yes, that's true, but there it is not the case of authority which we confer on our delegates, but of a commission entrusted! These gentlemen think that when they have changed the names of things they have changed the things themselves. This is how these profound thinkers mock at the whole world.

We have thus seen that, on the one hand, a certain authority, no matter how delegated, and, on the other hand, a certain subordination, are things which, independently of all social organisation, are imposed upon us together with the material conditions under which we produce and make products circulate.

We have seen, besides, that the material conditions of production and circulation inevitably develop with large-scale industry and large-scale agriculture, and increasingly tend to enlarge the scope of this authority. Hence it is absurd to speak of the principle of authority as being absolutely evil, and of the principle of autonomy as being absolutely good. Authority and autonomy are relative things whose spheres vary with the various phases of the development of society. If the autonomists confined themselves to saying that the social organisation of the future would restrict authority solely to the limits within which the conditions of production render it inevitable, we could understand each other; but they are blind to all facts that make the thing necessary and they passionately fight the world.

Why do the anti-authoritarians not confine themselves to crying out against political authority, the state? All Socialists are agreed that the political state, and with it political authority, will disappear as a result of the coming social revolution, that is, that public functions will lose their political character and will be transformed into the simple administrative functions of watching over the true interests of society. But the anti-authoritarians demand that the political state be abolished at one stroke, even before the social conditions that gave birth to it have been destroyed. They demand that the first act of the social revolution shall be the abolition of authority. Have these gentlemen ever seen a revolution? A revolution is certainly the most authoritarian thing there is; it is the act whereby one part of the population imposes its will upon the other part by means of rifles, bayonets and cannon — authoritarian means, if such there be at all; and if the victorious party does not want to have fought in vain, it must maintain this rule by means of the terror which its arms inspire in the reactionists. Would the Paris Commune have lasted a single day if it had not made use of this authority of the armed people against the bourgeois? Should we not, on the contrary, reproach it for not having used it freely enough?

Therefore, either one of two things: either the anti-authoritarians don't know what they're talking about, in which case they are creating nothing but confusion; or they do know, and in that case they are betraying the movement of the proletariat. In either case they serve the reaction.

Let me drop a little communist propaganda real quick. Its just a longer, smarter version of what i just said.

There, Engels essentially demolished the core principle of Communism. There's a reason no currently living commies describe themselves as "Engels-ists." That's actually barely even commie propaganda, because even Engels didn't buy into it. At some point, there needs to be authority.

At the point you admit that, you have basically abandoned Communism as such. In the Marxist view, the state shouldn't exist, and it's something that will cease to exist, will naturally dissolve, as the necessity of the dictatorship of the proletariat fades away. This has never happened in any Communist state.

The Marx-Engels criticisms of capitalism are still valid, but they still completely fail to address the simple question of how do you replace capitalism? Until you can do that, you can fuck off. I like my nifty consumer products. I will continue to buy them. Fuck you and your Trabant if you think a shitty car that only starts half the time is a replacement.

This is why I consider myself a capitalist with socialist tendencies rather than the other way around. Friedman, Hayek, the other Austrians, I think there is a certain heartlessness to their views. But I haven't seen other economists (other than Keynes) address actual reality.

Engels, in that passage, seems to recognize the vacuousness of Communism. He wasn't a dumb guy. So how couldn't he? He wasn't dumb enough to fail to recognize basic principles of economy. Unlike Marx, though, he wasn't a complete lunatic.
