Sustained Denial of Service attacks. Paid for botnet. Service will continue to be disrupted until I can contact other providers and arrange a fix. Sister services to the forum will have longer downtime. There's still ongoing service-level attacks which are causing intermittent errors and general slowness.
I don’t know how such cases work and if this matters, but I hope that IMVUs legal team knows of Malcomsons previous history of nuisance lawsuits. Though the fact they filed for dismissal makes me think they do.
I also confess a bit of envy for Malcomson. When he goes off tilting at windmills and being a pain in everyone’s ass, he has nothing to lose, because he has absolutely nothing. That must be a a heady feeling of freedom right there.

It’s going to be awesomely hilarious. The Battletech lawsuit sounds like it was quite the laugh fest; the few legal docs I’ve seen imply that the judge smacked Malcomson down hard on his appeal. And apparently told him point blank that he has no understanding of intellectual property law.
You know, I think Malcomson is a kind of Don Quixote. He has delusions of being an epic hero in David and Goliath battles; winning is probably the last thing on his mind, he just likes the admiration of other losers and little people he gets for just fighting these battles.

Some of the replies on this thread are pretty exceptional. I especially like how Witchiebunny makes the whole conversation about herself since her ex-husband lives in Arizona and Malcomson lives in Arizona and muh bad divorce and self pitying Witchiebunny. Or something.
And predictably Malcomson is turning this into a victory because... I dunno. He thinks he outsmarted the judge or something and he’s going to appeal.

Calbeck is a loony who pissed off the entire Battletech fandom for suing over a lack of payment for a paragraph or so worth of fluff. He ended up getting his ass handed to him by the law ninjas at Catalyst.
