Why the fuck would anyone want to go down there at that time? This fucked up the bus system, as many of the routes go through there and a lot of transfers are made. Third street is a major thruway. I wouldn't want to drive down there- screw the shooters, they gone- but the traffic would be at a gridlocked standstill with people trying to get out at rush hour. I'd charge a shitton too if someone wanted to waste my time like that. That trip could take hours.

Seattle may be super liberal but the surrounding counties are not. Rural areas and liberal mindsets don’t really go together. A lot of people think Washington is super liberal because of Seattle and Spokane but a lot of the political voting power comes from the outlier communities which tend to be gun-loving conservatives who just lean more progressive on social issues. Mostly because the rural communities are filled with families who have been here generations and the city is full of California transplants looking to make Seattle the next LA.

(Many of) The rural areas are built up almost exclusively from business brought in by the logging companies, regardless of whether such companies are still around and running (many are) they are proud of their guns and will shout very loudly when the state tries to push more gun control. They’ll have power over those decisions too because of the money they generate for Washington.
